Launch day tomorrow . . . Fairwinds is going in the water. Most of the Winter jobs list remains undone, but just getting afloat again will be great. Propped up on sticks in a yard is no place for a lady, and this living in a house business seems a lot harder since we got back last year after our Canaries cruise.



I know we are just WAFIs to those of you who ply the briny for a living, but at least I feel I have some control over my immediate destiny when we are at sea

We experienced 15 months of sunshine, saw all the Canaries, the Spanish Rias, Portugal, the Azores - and lived well, cheaper than we can live now we are back home.

We will go again - although this year our horizons are more limited, with possible destinations limited to St Kilda, the Faroes, Norway, Galway Bay . . . but just spending a night at anchor out between the Black Isles can be nice as well.

Spidey, if you have never experienced the thrill of a dawn arrival on a small boat in a new country or watched phosphorescent dolphins making synchronised torpedo runs on the boat at night then don't knock it . . .

I was supping in the TnT recently and heard tell of a recent dolphin harpooning, 3 of them I believe, anyone know anything about it???

There's no harm in someone blowing their trumpet a little (but you do it to excess) but you are probably (just once again) in a minority in saying you are not interested in reading said blog.

One thing you keep banging on about is people having chips on their shoulder. It's not something that bothers me, so it rarely enters my mind, but now it has, I can't help feeling you have a MASSIVE chip that makes you hate everyone.....possibly even yourself!

You don't get out much do you, Shankers my old misanthrope.

One of the joys of this island is that it is extremely yachty. I could mention a well known yachty pub, the boatyard, the two moorings associations, the number of ocean going vessels in barns and gardens throughout the area, the Seil residents who have sailed to so many far flung places.

T&T is one of the best known pubs among West coast yachtsmen, probably only rivalled by the Old Forge at Knoydart or perhaps more recently the pub on Sanda off the Mull of Kintyre.

As to the other, if you don't know what I mean then you don't know / haven't met many people around here do you?

Anyway, just take a look in the bay and up the Sound - most of those boats are owned by local residents.

Well CanU, shame we're in agreement here, nevertheless the yellow booted yachties which pollute our island all seem to have accents which come from the other side of our Roman wall and, thus, little appreciation for the reality of this island. As don't our resident geeks and teches who have similar accents.

Yellow wellys......I thought only Fishermen wore yellow wellys, Its Leather backed with Goretex that yachtsmen wear on there feet these days. You must admit Nick there is a large percentage of yachtsmen and women sail about in a major drunken/post drunken stupor ignoring the basic rules of the road, yourself exepted of course.
