We were promised (remember?) that New Labour would get rid of sleaze, but all they created instead was spin where anything could be justified. In my opinion it was even more dishonest and dirty than the sleaze we were used to, because it was done on the sly
Never has, "You may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time" seemed so appropriate.
Never has the opinion and trust in politicians been lower.
So when we discover so many MP's have been at the feeding trough of Westminster expenses, where they claim the maximum allowances, so often because they don't have to show receipts or record it, do you think your MP is worth it?
Can we trust them to take tax payers money without any accountability to the people?
(BTW there is an MP for Argyll, as well as an MSP, and MSP's have tighter rules on expenses than Westminster MP's)
SERIOUS SUBJECT: Is your MP worth it?

It does seem as though a small number of the long standing residents are trying to keep the island in the dark ages, and worse, it seems that this is supported by the holiday makers who love the "romantic idyll". I don't suppose that those who are trying to live there feel the same. It must be costing the council of fortune to keep digging them out, let alone anything else.
If the island got a fixed link there are some folk over there I can think of who would find it harder to dictate future development. Strikes me that it's all about power and control, not about living in the 21st century.
