A couple from the Yes camp have broken ranks and answered my query - thanks -albeit rather luridly.
The only defence for my ignorance on the subject, is that I have never had the misfortune to suffer this indignity - except during the "nappy" years - and these are but a distant memory.
So, unless there is more bawdy language on this thread, I will bow out and leave it to the protagonists to continue their weighty discussions.

In the context of a previous reply by green pointy ears, a breath of fresh air must be taken with a pinch of salt. I realise that there may have been a tongue in the cheek , but with these extra terrestials one can never tell just what is lurking behind that inscrutaible visage.
As for our tall flowery contributor, I would much rather have an entertaining bawdy exchange of information as opposed to this continual harping on about the pros-and cons of the subject that seems to dominate this forum.
Notice that I have omitted to mention what that subject is, and both sides feel that if they plug away at it ad infinitum they will eventually wear down the opposition. A bit like waterboarding.

Answers please from anyone who can come up with a plausible argument for two people to get into an enclosed area and proceed to try and tear lumps out of each other, or render them unconcious (and possiblly suffer brain disfunction), in the name of entertainment
Dressing it up in Queensbury rules or whatever, does not detract from the sheer barbarity of channeling male agression into entertainment for a section of society who get pleasure from this kind of spectacle.
In the animal kingdom this form of behaviour is commonplace, and is good for the continuance of the species and the survival of the fittest, but these parameters no longer apply to humanity, and it is a sad day for the future of the human race if one can get satisfaction from the sight of an unconcious protagonist on the floor of a ring (unless one has invested heavily with bookmakers on this outcome) and that is equally reprehensible.
Now there is an independant view, but it has nothing to do with the referendum
