Congratulations, but try to resist the temptation to splash out on larger sized headgear.
Your moments of fame arose because of the zealous reportage of the new Golf Club secretary so give him a friendly nod the next time you see him on the course - no need to bow.

when the new club secretary happens to be your brother in law its kinda par for the course so to speak to be given a hard time for winning !!!! especially when he doesn't :D

It is surprising that there are 157 people who have felt compelled to log on to see what has been the outcome of an fairly insignificant result of a recent competition on the Golf Course.
As the entire membership of the Golf Course is just over 100 (at the last count) and quite a number have probably more interest in birdies than bytes, it would seem that the readership of this particular thread is made up of the extended family of the lucky? winner and his in-law official relation.
It is difficult to see where this particular thread can go hereafter unless it degenerates into a debacle about handicaps, and that would be a death knell for all but the relations with an axe to grind.

It is slightly less than 24 hours since I posted a fairly innocuous reply to the foregoing correspondance on the subject of a local resident (albeit an incomer from Paisley) who struck it lucky on our local 9 hole Golf Course. I did express a previous surprise that this should generate such a large readership, given that the game of golf is not everyone's cup of tea. However in less than 24 hours, no fewer than 30 people have seen fit to access this thread on the website. Why?

Possibly cos they are bored? Which maybe you are too Jimcee if you are watching to see what other people are watching! :)

That can surely not go without a reply.
Whenever one posts something on to a site, it is fairly natural to hope that someone somewhere will read one's erudite words and make some sort of reply - either in agreement or in opposition to the views expressed.
So when posting a response there is a vested interest in seeing what others might have to say in reply to these wise words penned with (hopefully) some foresight.
It is unfortunately the case that there are only about a dozen, at the most, active contributors to the forum, and the rest (30+ in this case) are merely voyeurs
Unless someone else brings something different into the equation this topic will peter out fairly soon.

You are right Jimcee but many forums lose momentum after time. Unfortunately it's the scandal and 'hot' topics that get people posting. The lad did well at the golf :D but it's hardly the news scoop of the year!.
