Cool it baby!

Post by Sandy MacSeil »

Cool it baby!

Think smooth – and slow – now stoppp.
Make contact with still air
Hear it bubble, slide and foam
Through the inner ear
Then let vacuum suck the pressure out
That – frictionless – the mind glides free
Instead of juddering, racing blind
Towards an unplanned wasteful end.
The Hurricane of life requires an inner Eye of calm –
That’s how perspectives glue and goals are fixed
With raging lion laid down for lamb.

Thanks, Peter. I'm not really into poetry at all but, for some unknown reason and totally out of the blue, I wrote a dozen poems in the space of a few days some years back! Very odd!

Well, based on the above, you've certainly got an aptitude. Some more, please? 8)

OK Peter, here's another - about the weather and its effects. Hasn't been a dry day on Seil since July 25! Maybe we should all emigrate!

Cloudy Dull or Sunny Bright?

Drip! Drip! Raindrops splash harmony to the alarm-bell’s jangle!
The waking mind absorbs the mood and feels the cold damp dawn,
beckoning it forth
towards “the day the Lord hath made, we must rejoice and be glad in it”!
Or get up and get wet in it!

How much easier to rejoice, for those whose waking
senses the warm force of mellow sun,
soothing muscle strand, boosting pulse, lightening shadows in sight and mind,
tinting life in golden yellow wash.

The positive tones of sun religiously oppose demoniacle bleak,
but chance, it allocates our lot
and ours is dripping through the slates!
Or maybe, like religion too, it’s us
who have to shake
the scruffs of chance and self.
Go forth and find the sun, the Son, the divine sun.

Heavens, (if you’ll pardon the pun) Sandy, this is really excellent. I particularly like the ‘golden yellow wash’ of sun and ‘it’s us/ who have to shake/ the scruffs of chance and self’. Terrific. 8)
