HAS THE SNP SHOT ITSSELF IN THE FOOT (AGAIN)
Recent reports in the press suggest the SNP has urged us to buy Scottish
with planned promotions of a saltire logo and all on local produce
admirable enough but probably against EU law.
And if the rest of the UK splits along regional lines how good will that be for the Scots Economy
where is the little sense they had ?

Whatever your politics buying local makes sense - fewer food miles.

You're right Teddy. If A. Salmon wishes to start a protectionist trade war with England there will only be one winner.
The fool.
But never fear, he's engineered an even bigger disaster for Scotland:
*SNP has vowed to use their control over planning applications to block any proposals for new atomic plants in Scotland.
*The Government has published a shortlist of 11 potential sites for new nuclear stations, but were forced to include only England and Wales.
CONSEQUENCES
* Alex Salmond has ruled out a low-carbon fuel in the battle against global warming.
* The lights could go out north of the Border unless electricity generated from nuclear sources is imported from England.
* Constructing two new atomic plants in Scotland would have created 9,000 construction jobs and pumped £5.6 billion into the Scottish economy.
DESPITE
* A recent Scottish Executive-commissioned opinion poll that found 53 per cent of Scots support nuclear power, with only 23 per cent against.
* Hunterston is due to close in 2016, while Torness will shut by 2023.
* We are fast becoming an economic basket case along the lines of Ireland and Iceland (two role models for Salmond)
Now; I fully support Independence and voted SNP last time round but I want to be lead into independence by a leader who supports pragmatic and sensible solutions to our problems. I once liked Salmond but after a couple of years of broken promises and unfliching dogma I would happy to see him out on his R's.
Oh, please don't tell me that we can keep our lights on with windmills and little thingies under the water. Of course renewables (however trendy) cannot meet 100% of demand for 100% of the time. Doesn't it occur to the sloppies that there are many times when still air and slack tides occur together?

ps Teddy: that's the first time I've understood one of your posts. Must be a side effect of the viagra!

Sloppy thinking here from the Hammer of the Scots.Doesn't it occur to the sloppies that there are many times when still air and slack tides occur together?
There is no time of simultaneous slack water round our coasts. Tidal power stations deployed round the coast could produce a steady and predictable output indefinitely.

True blubber, but are you proposing surrounding the coast of Scotland from Gretna to Berwick with these underwater doobries? Any idea of the cost for this?
Are you also proposing desecrating our beautiful landscape and seascape with massive arrays of windmills?
Are you proposing a many thousand mile network of electricity pylons to bring this electricity across beautiful countryside to our population centres?
If global warming really is manmade and if its going to get really bad then I'd rather go carbon neutral with nuclear power than suffer the horrendous consequences which the global warming geeko-fascists like to ram down our throats with nihilistic glee.
Nuclear waste is not a problem; use somewhere like Gruniard (already contaminated with anthrax) to store it.

Re: HAS THE SNP SHOT ITSSELF IN THE FOOT (AGAIN)
Small problem with using Gruinard as a dumping ground, Mr Plantagenet Sir. It is tiny, hardly big enough to store a day's supply of contaminated gloves from Sellafield, let alone any high level waste. Also, the local sheep might object - Gruinard is no longer contaminated with anthrax, and was pronounced clean some 20 years ago.
Do try to keep up, old boy.

Blimey; where did I contract the boils then? The Crimson Vicar wrote:Gruinard is no longer contaminated with anthrax
Not Gruniard it seems.
Thinking out of the box how about Colonsay? Offer the locals a few thou each to upsize somewhere else and hey presto! I wouldn't get too hung up about the sheep your vicarliness, unless, of course....no, I'd better not go there.
Failing Colonsay there's always Wales.
Good to have you back your redness. Is NickMacB coming back too? All his posts seem to have disappeared from here as has his name on the member list. Is he off sailing across to the Caribbean again?

Can't speak for Nickb, dunnow where he is. I've been busy over on the Oban Times forum (some geezer insisting I am not I, but he seems to have been banned so good riddance), and getting involved in the local gay/bi S&M scene, which is remarkably vibrant, I am glad to say.longshanks wrote: Good to have you back your redness. Blimey Vic!
Are you sitting comfortably?
That apart, don't worry. I've just popped over to the OT forum. You haven't been banned according to the member list. But, cripes; NickB has been banned. If you see him you'd better tell him. He's a crafty one, that NickB, as I then popped over to the Oban and Lorn forum and I see that he's managed to continue the OT thread there. Quite some stramash it seems, caused by your erudite article on global warming in last week's Oban Times.
See you in church on Sunday. Usual place, usual time.

No, I haven't been banned, but the pillock insisting that he is the "real" Vicar was, although it seems he's managed to get reinstated. I think I know who it is though. I am not afraid to admit that I have had a "murky" past, and have made a few enemies on the way. You would be surprised at just how bitchy the Gay Christian world can be, and how vindictive.
Bless,
