Apparently middle-age officially starts at 50 now. Retirees are not necessarily elderly. To be declared 'old' I believe you have to be 70+. Yes, it's attitude that matters, not age: so many people these days well into their 70's and 80's are showing the young a great example by not acting their age!

Mabe's aye and mabe's naw should help a bit, unfortunatly the emphasis is still on house buying. Not actually adressing the problem and talking about some council or housing association houses.

At the end of the day big tax conccesions are not going to solve this problem, the housing market in Cheshire may be over heated and most modern flat developments are pretty shodily built.

The housing "market" has been hyped by both Labour and Conservative goverments basiclly as a form of manipulation to keep middleclass voters in middle England on their side,a high percentage of home owner ship does not a wealthy country make....and as we can see this form of "market" does not work in rural areas.

A proper stock of rentable council or housing association housing would alow famillys to remain or move into this area without them having to have huge capital or morgage repayments. Meanwhile those who choose to partisipate in the property game can continue to pay stupid money for one bedroom cottages untill the bottom falls out of the "market".

To paraphrase Mrs Thatchers pall General Pinochet " if your people can afford to buy a house and a car you can get away with anything"

I'm sure there can't be anything worse than having incomers tell locals how better things are elsewhere. Afterall, most folk choose to live here/have moved here because they prefer the lack of development and put up with some of the lack of facilities in order to enjoy our wonderful enviroment. Who wants to change anything.........

The pot holes? - Well, they help limit the speed of drivers.
The tourists? - They give us all a laugh and a story to tell. They also contribute to our local economy.
Being one of the few areas that Tescos doesn't deliver to despite what it says on its lorries? - now there's a challenge. Anyone up for a campaign?
