Summer smells and problems

Post by inthepast »

Last year we had big problems with flies and maggots in our bins during Spring and Summer. We tried to wrap food waste in newspaper. That was not very successful and we found paper bin liners a more convenient alternative. Now we are on the verge of a hosepipe ban, keeping the bin clean for many people will be more of a problem. May I sugest a look at compostable paper liners from Biosack Limited. www.biosack.co.uk which might be of use to anyone else who had the same problems.
Its never too late to start to care

I'm not sure if this will work for all of you but maybe a few.

We have a compost pile where we put all of our food wastes. We then have a couple of chickens and ducks who help keep the pile rotated plus they love to eat bugs.

Advantage with two chickens is that you have fresh eggs every morning. Ducks are just a lot of fun to watch.

Cheers
