Just browsin' and came across this. Where is this welcoming community? How does the ferry service allow young families to stay on the island? Has anyone seen this women rowing to work?
This is the best laugh I've had for ages.

How long do they have to wait?
OK Smelly, just how long do residents have to wait under your rules before they are allowed to express an opinion on anything? No rights at all until the second generation, would that be about right in your blinkered book? Or is anyone not born here simply beyond the pale?As for the incomers being asked how they feel about other incomers...
I don't think posts like yours are particularly helpful in attracting the brightest and the best to our (pseudo) island community, do you?

Smelly, don't forget that, paraphrased slightly, Darwin implied that the up-and-goers go and succeed while those who never go tend to be the deadbeat thickos so your unnecessary and unpleasant division of the community into "incomers " and "proper islanders" in positive and negative senses respectively doesn't cut any ice of logic at all. Why can't we just be one community and why must eejits like Jones, 7th and you constantly snipe and whinge at anyone who puts his or her head over the parapet? I agree with Mona and Blubby and I think that most normal local folk would too.

Smelly, I thnk, being ironic of course, that we can all see who the Darwinian cretin is on this thread but, don't worry, we won't tell anyone. By the way, as someone in the Guardian pointed out, irony isn't so clever really but more likely is just "hypocritical, cynical, lazy". The main point here is that some apparently decent folk who live and work on the island appeared on TV saying what a great place Easdale is and now most of their local blogging neighbours can only mock and abuse them. Sad, no? Unfair, yes?
