The New Easdale/ Seil/ Ellanabeich Hall

Hi again everyone and I wish all the regulars a healthy and PROSPEROUS New Year.

Since I'm just back, unfortunately I missed the New Year dance but I hear there are a few problems arising with the hall, not least the accoustics and lighting!
Surely when this amount of money has been spent, the least we can expect is "variable" lighting and a decent space for hearing performers without "room" feedback!!!

I have to agree sally, a dimmer switch and some drapes would have softened the atmosphere and the sound, too many hard surfaces.....but otherwise nice enough wee hall.
Just need a sense of community to go with it.

How much smaller is the new hall? It seems only capable of handling a single row for Strip the Willow; the old hall took two.
Anyway, a good New Year's Dance.

Great hall, great music. BTW anyone disappointed by Skerryvore on Hogmanay - not their usual I felt; probably not suited to open air performance.
Back to the Hall dance. The only thing which spoilt it was the dodgy dancing by the majority who think scottish country dancing is all about shouting yehah and flinging yourself or your unfortunate partner of the moment to all parts of the floor.
Hey Buddhaboy - how about taking time out from your gay fitness classes and organising some scottish dancing lessons for the edjits

Must agree mr pony 'tis the lack of social dancin being taught at local schools.

Although this wild west coast yehahin is better than kilt wearing white heather club nonsense.....

Longshanks - I am VERY reliably told that their is a huge distinction between Scottish Country Dancing and Ceilidh dancing - just as there is a difference in the tunes, tempo and style of the performing band.

It could also be argued that, as with language, there has to be allowances for free expression and forward development. ( I refer to text language/ computer language )

Perhaps, if there was a "mosh pit", this could be seen as a step too far, but in the meantime perhaps the older members of the indiginous community could lead by example - maybe that's what the "young uns" actually want - a bit of guidance!!

Ahhh the Scottish Country Dancing fairies have been having a go at the Ceilidh dancing fairies...we should take no heed of what they say and we should certainly not quote from them either...

Perhaps, USmell, you would like to elaborate on your knowledge of Fairies.
Perhaps there are those amongst us who seem to know you that could confirm whether or not you actually ARE a Fairy !!?

I have heard the hall is a little smaller and lighter. I have also heard they are going to put some sort of dimmer in. By all account the New Year dance went well, sorry I missed it.
