Having a Mone
This cropped up in yesterdays Telegraph, so was best ignored, but now The Scotsman has taken it up.
What is going on? If a nationalist made these unsubstantiated claims against the Labour, LibDem or Tories there would be trouble.
Is it true? or are the black arts at play?

If she really is leaving Scotland because of some hurtful comments on Twitter she is being a little naive.
They have Twitter in England as well

Really Bill - I find it hard to find how you have time for jogging. This newspaper trawling must impinge seriously on your daily routine.
And one point I find which makes me doubt your open mindedness, is to dismiss the Telegraph out of hand, but to have qualms if the same subject appears in the Scotsman. And then you have your cohort NB piping up in support, to try and trash the possibility that the lady might have a point.
Keep it up lads - there will, no doubt, be media reports in the coming days to keep you active.

I did no such thing. Are you quite incapable of reading what I actually post?jimcee wrote: . . . you have your cohort NB piping up in support, to try and trash the possibility that the lady might have a point.
I merely pointed out that crossing the border will make no difference to the (alleged) pursuit of Ms Mone by Twitter trolls.

Jim!! Surely your not suggesting unbiased reporting from the paper?jimcee wrote:dismiss the Telegraph out of hand,
It's one of the worst offenders.
Re: Having a Mone
Ah! there we are - an almost immediate response from our two SNP diehards.
NB - You did not actually condemn the lady for her views, but the tone of your posting suggested that her views were not going to change by a move to England - absolutely correct - but the inference was that her views were unfounded and not legitimate. The same thing happened when J.K.Rowling publically supported the NO campaign - she was subject to dog's abuse. I don't know what the answer to this Twitter/facebook abuse that some elements of society delight in indulging in, but it tends to put one against anyone who sinks to this level (and their cause).
To Bill - No - I realise that you will only peruse the Telegraph to get your dander up ( probably the Mail will have a similar effect). But you must have been incensed when the Scotsman had the temerity to mention the affair. Altogether enough to postpone any idea of a jog or two and pound the keyboard instead.
Now there is a quick response to the last two postings to keep the readership happy and maybe give our two poster food for thought - fat chance.

Re: Having a Mone
Jim, this is far more serious that any mercenary party one-upmanship.
Michelle Mone has publically told the whole world that she is leaving Scotland as it is an “Angry hate filled country”… “that I don’t feel safe in any more”.
She claims to have been called a C*** on twitter over 2 dozen times by “Cyber Nats”.
Someone checked and found that simply untrue - http://wingsoverscotland.com/quick-fact-check/
No one has called her that on twitter in the last 3 years. She is a liar!
Michelle Mone has long said that she will be moving south to develop her business. She has said how sad she will be to go as she loves Scotland and is people.
Michelle Mone did say she would leave Scotland if they voted Yes to Independence, Michelle Mone is a prominent and vocal New Labour Supported and in the last general election actually encouraged people in Scotland to vote Conservative to stop the SNP (hence a lot of the flack she actually did get from both SNP, LibDems and Labour supporters).
The article that’s started in the Telegraph and then the Scotsman has gone global.

This is the picture she has painted to the whole world of the country she claims to love.
Including you Jim!

Re: Having a Mone
The truth is that the actual number of abusive tweets aimed at both Rowling and Mone is very much less (by a factor of between ten and a hundred) than is actually claimed by the sufferers and the tabloids.jimcee wrote:Ah! there we are - an almost immediate response from our two SNP diehards.

This can be ascertained by anyone with a modicum of intelligence who knows how to search Twitter, but is seems it is beyond the wit of our newspapers. Unless of course they are just determined to make mischief.
For an illustration of the fact that Mone's claims are hysterical and untrue see this article
(I see Stevie has already made the same point - but it can bear making again. Jim, you really should not believe everythign you read in the newspapers)

Re: Having a Mone
.
And to put the tin lid on it Mone has now tweeted saying the Daily Mail headline was nonsense and business was her reason for leaving:
The point is, Jim, all of the conventional media with the exception of the National and the Sunday Herald are (quite naturally) unionist to the core, and (quite rightly) see the SNP as a massive threat to the status quo they identify with. That's just the way it is, and the so-called 'social media' (including Seil Chat ?) are making the counter-arguments because none of the papers will.
So - instead of yelling at me and other posters on here about bias, why not for a change write a letter to the editor of the Daily Mail or the Telegraph ?

Re: Having a Mone
Aye! right!
If we don't see Michelle Mone's lawyers in court very shortly suing the Telegraph, then the tweet above is a monumental U-turn.
Re: Having a Mone
I would like to make a point here -
I do not read newspapers - apart from the Oban Times on a Thursday.
What I learn from newspapers is what I read on these pages - as supplied by those who evidently spend considerable time combing them to pick out items which they think will influence the thinking of the rest of us - I have serious doubts about the effectiveness of this.
However - one final point - NB exhorts me not to believe everything that I read in newspapers - does he extend this coverage to the National, Wings over Scotland, others of the same ilk, or only to the mainstream (Tory/unionist ?) press.
I cannot resist another aside - I used to be an avid reader of the Daily Express. However since they have switched almost entirely to headlines depicting either a UKIP mentality, a new Diana conspiracy theory, or a miracle cure for everything, I am sad to say that they have lost my adherance.

Not at all Jim, 10-15mins with your morning coffee is all it takes. The truly tripe journalism jumps right off the page. ( well really the screen, since it's all online )jimcee wrote:who evidently spend considerable time combing them to pick out items .
Regarding the Daily Express, I totally agree. Maybe the Greens should picket it since it's a criminal waste of trees.
Re: Having a Mone
So I have a completely wrong impression of out two SNP stalwarts.
I had an impression of them singularly, paying a visit to Balvicar stores soon after the daily papers arrived and purchasing those that upset their sensebilities - taking them back to their abode and scanning/copying the offensive material into this website. This would have admittedly given an impression of huge dedication to the cause - far more than this humble site deserves.
However it transpires that these two dedicated trawlers of the media do it from the comfort of their homes while swigging the morning coffee, or whatever other libation they prefer, and then transferring the offending article to these pages with a click or two on the keyboard.
If this be the case, and I do not expect a denial, then all we are getting on these pages is a digest from the whole media which is sympathetic to their cause and culled without moving from the computer, or whatever terminal they have at their disposal. to fill these pages with anything that might further their cause.
Fair enough lads, keep the supply flowing to keep us logged on to this website to read the results of you efforts (achieved with minimal effort) but do not expect us to be swayed by the rhetoric

Re: Having a Mone
PS to the above - At least we have an agreement about the Daily Express, although there are others who read these postings who might not agree with that. But then we all probably favour the media which reflects our views on life and discount all the others as rubbish. Horses for courses possibly.
