Middle East...

Post by canUsmellthat »

What do the good citizens of the forum think about the current climate in the Middle East? (and I'm not talking about the weather!)

How many people think that the Israelis should be shoe-horned out and the land turned back to the poor Palestinians?

Does anybody think that the problems in Afghanistan can ever be solved by western forces? (Even colonial Britain could not extinguish the flames in Kabul)

Are we creating an Iraq of two halves? What the hell are we doing there? Should we take what oil we can shovel into drums and leave the Americans with the bar tab?

I'm trying to start some healthy discussion, I've noticed that there's an opening for quality debate on this forum!

Spiderman always wants peace and believes in knowing our limitations in the world and hence says "no" to virtually all your questions. 8) 8) 8)

The trend seems to have more, smaller nations, each established on ethnic lines.........Israel, Palestine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia..........and the only way forward is for Iraq to split Kurd, Sunni, Shiites, etc, etc.

And for peace to be maintained, by force, when required by the UN or NATO (even outside Europe)

Any thought that this trend applies to Scotland are wrong. These new nations are formed by conflict, war and ethnic cleansing. Thankfully we haven't got that far yet, and besides Scotalnd would never win.

Could this have anything to do with the current state of the EU?
