Tigh an Truish - a local's point of view

Post by NickB »

.
A point to note when comparing hostelries in the area . . . the T&T stays open 7 days a week throughout the Winter for locals.

Not something that can be said of others hereabouts I'm afraid.

Big deal!...most locals have the sense to stay at home with a few beers when the roads aren't gritted etc. Also...the last time I was in there was winter, the place was empty whilst I waited for a visiting relative....the person on the bar read a book rather than make converstion with me...I'm easy to get on with too...honest guv

Closing time in the Winter is 8pm Sun/Mon/Tues/Weds, 10pm or later as required Thurs Fri Sat.

What exactly is your point Canu ? The Barn (as extolled by the alleged Jon Martham) is only open at weekends in Winter while the Oyster seems to be entirely random.

Would you prefer it if the place was replaced by a Weatherspoons?

Hope 'Jon Martham' gives us notice of his return in order for us to be able to line the bridge and doff our caps.

Point being, it's never open when you want it to be...

"Hope 'Jon Martham' gives us notice of his return in order for us to be able to line the bridge and doff our caps."

It seems and i do understand that "locals" are up in arms over my critiscm over the T & T, and i did not want that to happen. What i wanted was a response from the Bar itself, but there non communication justifies what i have said. They dont give a damm!

To "Ann Thope" i appreciate your view, that you are well aware of the lazy staff in the bar that day and that you wish to defend them, but i take it you were not in the bar waiting to be served that Sunday Afternoon, as i and my family were!

My Pounds sterling and pence spent in the bar pay for the wages that keep "Islanders" employed and please do not say they do not, i have over 30 years in the Industry of owning bars and Hotels.

I will wave to you when you doff your cap, but i say to you one thing...

"Would anyone that was paying your wages that "Amazing" Sunday pay you for not working when sat on your Backside. If a member of staff cost me money the door would have been opened For them.

Finally on this matter, i will state.. The tourists do matter as they spend money which helps keep open venues thru the quiet months.

A private message to the T & T, As i said your lack response to initial phone calls and now on this site proves that you do not care, perhaps you should learn from the service of the Oyster Bar and also The Barn. You are the "initial" welcome to the Isle, a bad welcome can make people turn around.
This rude waitress/Bar person is bad publicity for each and every person that has anything to to with the Tourists on the Isle as you will all be judged alongside her!
