One weekend of Summer

Three months now and not a single peep
As we endure the tourists and the weather
Teddy’s in Khartoum, the rest of you asleep
While a quick trip into Tescos seems to take forever.
Summer is a two-edged sword in an idyll such as Seil
We welcome all our visitors, our cottagers and such
And though Lochs and Glens may not have personal appeal
They bring some money in - although it really isn’t much
But now the skies are briefly blue lets get out in the air
And try to see with tourist eyes the place they think enchanted
Winter will be here soon enough with us sat in the chair
Wishing for the Summer that for one weekend we’re granted.
