Hi everyone i would like your views on a recent letter that i received from argyll & bute council , concerning the councils plans to to cut free school transport to those who live within a 2 mile radius of the school. My personal view is that it is terrible, we live at balvicar approx 1.5 miles from the bus stop to the school do these idiots expect children from as young as 5 years old to walk this distance to school everyday in whatever weather condtions that the west coast can throw at them and be ready for a day of learning , not to mention the lewis hamilton's that are on these roads the majority being locals !! making the roads extremely unsafe. Now adults are meant to supervise these walks which means that these pour unfortunate soul's will have to be walking 6 miles a day !! and find a job which will fit round all this, that's if they have any energy to work. Yes i can hear the plebs who say just car share or pay for the bus but surely the you can see that these ideas will not always work and why should they, we pay taxes and what for ? maybe the wages for fifteen council men to fix the potholes in our road which never get done properly  Please tell me what you think and i would be gratefull for any ideas on who to contact to try and resolve this disaster, maybe even a petition cheers :saltire

Hello teuchter. I agree that we seem to get very little for our council tax - rubbish roads, rubbish collection, rubbish services etc. But, in a deep recession, I suppose these eejits have to make cuts. Is it such an unreasonable thing to ask parents relatively nearby to local primary schools to pay for their childrens' transport to and from school? It can't cost very much surely? And I suspect there will be many much worse cuts ahead.......
