thank god the scots have more pride

England my England
Goodbye to my England, So long my old friend
Your days are numbered, being brought to an end
To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that's fine
But don't say you're English, that's way out of line.
The French and the Germans may call themselves such
So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch
You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane
But don't say you're English ever again.
At Broadcasting House the word is taboo
In Brussels it's scrapped, in Parliament too
Even schools are affected. Staff do as they're told
They must not teach children about England of old.
Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw
The pupils don't learn about them anymore
How about Agincourt, Hastings, Arnhem or Mons?
When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.
We are not Europeans, how can we be?
Europe is miles away, over the sea
We're the English from England, let's all be proud
Stand up and be counted - Shout it out loud!
Let's tell our Government and Brussels too
We're proud of our heritage and the Red, White and Blue
Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack
Let the world know -
WE WANT OUR ENGLAND
BACK!!!
If you
are English, Welsh Irish or Scottish
pass it on please. how else independence.

Just an observation -
On many visits to the USA over the years it is extremely rare to hear anyone say "Are you British".
Almost invariably the word is "Are you English".
To which we reply "No.We are Scots"

How sad !
I've enjoyed reading Teddy's poetry over the months; it would be sad if he stopped because of this gratuitous insult. Please don't stop Teddy. Your musings bring pleasure to others.
Batwing:
Either you don't appreciate good poetry
OR
You're a pathetic little racist.
Which one?

.
It's not actually Teddy's poem - google it and you can find it all over the internet, including Stormfront.org's 'white pride' forum and the Sun and the Royal Lancers websites, to name just a few. I have to say I am not entirely sure why Teddy has chosen to publish it here - the comment 'how else independence' is typically cryptic, perhaps he can explain?
Maggie, try not to jump down peoples' throats will you. This poem isn't Teddy's in any event and it certainly isn't particularly 'good' poetry in any technical sense, in fact 'jingoistic doggerel' would be a more accurate description. To infer that someone is a racist because they don't like a poem is rather a large leap of logic.

Perhaps even toungue in cheek it wasnt the best post
however
look carefully at my title
i never said i wrote it
its lovely sometimes to muddy the water
and whatever the poet wrote i wont change
there is also the point that this is a discussion forum
and if the discussion is more than 1 post its done a job

OK Admin
Perhaps not everything in life is black and white
i dont care what other organisation use it or in what way
to me its not jingoistic perhaps more of a comment that
with ever more pressure from the doo good faction it has gone far enough
Nobody ever denied me the right to say i was, or wasnt Scottish.
But all the well meaning idiots in the world will not deny me the right also
to profess an Englishness if I so prefer.
like most modern people i can trace ancestry back to more than 1 country.
perhaps the biggest part to this comment is in the frequency it is re published
you know my views on bigots by now and never would i condone bigotism.
However the erosion of my own ability to say whatever i want (within reason) i will not
have challenged
Are this goverment of crooks and doo gooders encouraging the sort of backlash we all (hopefully)
dont want.
Perhaps the first independence must come from the too politically correct. Then Browns Mob.

Well, the sentiment of the poem is restoring pride in Englishness.
If Batwing doesn't like the poem in, as you say Mr Admin, "a technical sense" then he could have said so. His statement:
"What a load of rubbish!
"
shows that he objects to the poem from a totally different viewpoint (hint: the saltire is the giveaway)
IMHO Batwing is making an anti-english racist statement.
Anti-Englishness is, fortunately becoming less common now but a few diehard bravehearts are still stuck in that stinking swamp of a mindset and should be challenged at every opportunity.
Maybe Batwing's racism is subconscious, as inthe widespread practice of using the expression "darn sarf" because the interlocutor (wow!) can't bear to use the word "England" but it should be challenged nonetheless.

Best to keep schtum on that answer at the moment Jim, unless of course you want to spend a couple of hours justifying the release of the Lockerbie bomber.
I was in Boston for a couple of days a week ago and found, invariably, any mention of Scotland led to a snipe about the release. We are no longer flavour of the month amongst Americans I'm afraid.
While on the subject; is he still alive? Are his [less than] three months [to live} up yet?
....oh, and, I'm with you Maggie and Peter on the racism aspect of the original response to the poem, but, Khartoum, old chap, I'm also with McAdmin - not a very good poem, technically, so I,m also with Jim; yours Ted, are much better; stick to them.

Teddy, I'd just like to add that I didn't personally feel there was anything wrong with your post at all, or the fact that you posted it.
It wasn't insulting to anyone. And, I've read the view many times about it being deemed 'unfashionable' etc to say you are English.
And, I hope you continue posting your poetry, which is always a pleasure to read.
And you're right, many people (myself included) can trace their family back to many countries, and it would be nice to not be faced with a sneering face or a snipe of a remark for saying so (unfortunately there is a minority group of small minded people who exist who think it's ok to do this). So, I give your post a
