It's quite heart warming to see the local ferrymen doing their bit for those in peril on the sea.
That new radio's came in handy eh Wullie?

It's not that cryptic Mona.
Our brave ferrymen quickly responded to a MayDay call and doubtless played some part in saving the crew of a fast sinking vessel.
My point is this - to own and operate a VHF radio - it is a mandatory requirement to have an operator license ( which is free!). The council, in their infinite wisdom didn't seem to think that this applied to them - and things like radios might get wet on open boats anyway - that is until the recent MCA inspection told them otherwise.
If it wasn't for the recent boot up the a**e by the MCA - how many dead yachties would the council have on its conscience?
