The road

.
Concerns have been expressed in some quarters regarding the eventual state the road from Balvicar to Clachan Seil will be left in when the contractors leave.

I have received the following communication from the Community Council on this matter:
We have had meetings with the Head of Roads and Amenity Services at the Council and local Councillors about the state of the roads.

We did a 'drive round' with them and have given them a list of 26 major defects together with a map giving the positions of all the problem areas and explained our concern about the contractors disappearing without doing a proper job so they are well aware of the situation.

This is on our public meeting agendas and will be reported in our Minutes which are available to anyone who is interested.

Everyone is also welcome to come to the public meetings.

We are doing what we can and we strongly recommend that everybody with a point to make writes to the relevant organisation as well.
As most of you already know, the Community Council minutes are published regularly on this site and that the date of the next meeting is usually available on the home page.

There is a poll which everyone can vote in in the Open Polls section where you can register your concern or lack of it.

Good morning Mr B
As suggested I have voted on the road poll. Unfortunately I clicked the vote button twice so, to be fair, could you remove one of the votes from the final option?
Mags
ps I do like the way you come up with these polls and questionnaires. You must have a creative mind. Are you an artist perhaps? I once lived with an artist; best time of my life.

Good morning Maggie,

You can't vote twice - your IP address (the address the internet assigns to your computer when you are logged on) is recorded and only one vote per IP address or per member is allowed.

Some people around here would say I am some sort of artist but no, I am not.

'Morning Nick and Maggie,

Sorry to interupt the confessional, flirtatious session but does this mean that if another family member wishes to vote from this computer it will not count?

If one voted from a laptop and the other from a PC would it still only count as one vote?

:thumbsup or :thumbsdown

Donnie, it is one vote per registered member or if posting as a guest one vote per IP address. I can't make it any plainer than that really. PM me if you need further clarification.

Maggie, no . . . if we were flirting I trust I would be saying something more interesting :)

This website provides a reporting mechanism for physical road faults - eg pot-holes etc - which will automatically send the details of problems to Argyll and Bute Council once you have entered them up on a simple form. Apparently they have already received some faults reported through FixMyStreet.

http://www.fixmystreet.com/

I see that while voting has slowed down our Open Poll shows that just over 50% of us are worried about the state the physical environment and infrastructure are going to be left in, with only 48% believing that we will be left with the place essentially 'as was' or better. Please vote to register your opinion if you haven't already - it is completely anonymous, you don't even need to register.

Tut, Tut Mr B; do I detect a hint of bias from the webmaster?

I'm sure you didn't mean to be biased (based on all the nice things I've heard about you when I've asked others) but it does appear that way.
Aren't the BB fan club in the lead in the poll now?
See ya.

Eh?

How would you like it worded? 'Us' refers to the whole community, not one point of view. Sorry if you felt excluded, that was not the intention. Here's some alternative wording:

It's close to 50/50 at the moment with about half of those who have completed the poll unhappy with the way the reinstatement of the road and the island is going, while half of us have no concerns.

Just as happy to state it that way if you think it sounds less biased. It doesn't change the figures.

The BB fan club aren't (as of this post) 'in the lead' because there are two 'unhappy' options in the poll, option 3 for the empowered who have done something and option 2 for those who are concerned but feel powerless.

Two unhappy options sounds like a longshanks vote

pollster by choice-stirrer by option.

oh dear; I may be wrong Mr B but it seems that as time progresses more and more people are joining the BB fan club. It now seems the majority are very happy with the works and tidy up ! Perhaps it time, Nick, to close the poll in case the support for BB becomes overwhelming and we get the wrong result.

'Wrong result'???

The poll was to see how people feel, not to produce a particular result or prove anyone's point of view. I wouldn't describe 54% happy (as of this posting) as exactly a landslide, as it means 46% - or nearly half - are still unhappy.

You seem to be very exercised about this Maggie - what drives you to persistently drag this thread back to the top?
