C'mon Santa, if I say sorry, will you PLEASE remove censorship from our midst this Xmas?

If that's an apology Mona then it's a pretty poor one.
A bit more humility and a bit more grovelling might be worth a try

OK Nick, sorry Eric, I humbly and with maximum grovelliness apologise to Nick for being rude and abusive and for having no concept whatsoever of what discussion means....................what more can a poor girl say.....or do.....? Thanks for the advice, Eric.

Hey, I created a topic and inserted a poll.
How come an extra (sarcastic) response has been added to the poll? Who is accessing my username and password to do this?
There is no way I would have added such a response but innocent browsers of this forum now think I did and may judge me as a grumpy computer nerd which I most certainly am not !.
How can we trust this forum when our posts are having phrases deleted (Mona's) and words added (mine).
Lets have a clear Code of Conduct which would include a ban on gross interference of this kind.

Longshanks, if you join a site you have to go with whatever the site's administrator choses to do with it. You can say what you like, complain all you like but ultimately the administrator determines what can and will happen after you've said what you like. If you don't like it go to another site where you get on better with its administrator.
Actually I like the sort of 'interference' shown with the poll, adding the additional question. On the one hand it demonstrates who has ultimate power (rightly the Administrator), subtly puts one over someone who's being a lttle cocky, and in this case gives the reader more choice. Surely that's democratic?

Oh Pants ! Have you so little understanding of Democracy ? In a Democracy (
demos=people) its the people who hold the ultimate power. It is the people who chose their leaders.
Here's how democracy works in this case.
The people of Seil etc voted for Comm Council members and devolved to them the funds and authority to oversee the wellbeing of their islands.
The CC decided to fund a Community website and, as in their remit, have appointed an administrator to create and run the website in return for an initial set up fee and an annual fee.
Thus it is the people who hold, in your words, the ultimate power.

In response to the question "Do you want Freedom of Speech here?" over one third of the respondents so far have answered NO !!
I wonder what impression an outsider browsing our forum is forming on the inhabitants of these islands?

The Community Council did, it is true, decide to set up a Community website in 2003. Otherwise all you say is completely wrong.
Apparently the CC had been discussing this for some time without getting anywhere. I was already running this site as a
free local business directory and general information site at that moment in time. I offered to add whatever was required to turn it into a Community site. I made it quite clear from the outset that I expected
no remuneration whatsoever for this, which is precisely what I have received. I would not have it any other way.
After a couple of meetings I added the current noticeboard-style front page and the various other community sections you see in the top menu onthe non-forum pages of the site. Originally the plan was for various community groups to maintain their own sections of the site, and an editing system was put in place. However, over the years it has been obvious that people prefer to pass additions to me for inclusion and I am happy to do so. I charge nothing for this, and all annual maintenance costs are likewise born by me.
For my non-existent wages, in addition to keeping the CC, Hall and Eirpoa sections of the site up to date I maintain the business directory, keep the front page relatively up to date, keep the transport timetables up to date as far as possible, change other pages (eg Car Scheme) as required, install regular updates to the forum software and administrate and moderate this nest of vipers.
Do you hear me Longshanks, I do this because I want to do something fo the community but I am not a good committee person. I am paid
nothing and I do not want it any other way.
Are you getting the message yet? This of course means that I most certainly don't not have to put up with abuse and general stirring from people like yourself who have nothing better to do. Your assertion that I am taking money for my services is verging on libel, so I suggest you take this as a final warning. I may refrain from deleting your user account if a full public apology is forthcoming, but then again I may not.

Do you have a point to make Sal? Do you perhaps think I should allow people to libel myself or other members on this forum?
No, I thought not. This thread is now locked as well as there is no need for anyone to say anything else on the subject. Longshanks can start a new thread with his apology if he is man enough to - which frankly I doubt.
