Here we go again.....more union led strikes, will the Grangemouth facility go the same way as all our other union led industries.....ie down the swanee. Will Scotland say byby to its only refinery due to union stupidity.
Who knows.......
Also, just visited Wester Ross.......is it just me or is Seil just rural living for city folk. ie the worst of both worlds, usual lack of opertunities that come with being rural but with the added bonus of suburban whinging a***holes.

What about Glasgow - City living for simple Heilan' folk?

Reactionary divisive negative nonsense from 7th. People are people whether they're of urban or rural origin or whether they're on the shop floor or management. Wise up and cheer up!

PP, meaning what? - that I don't think my fellow islanders are whinging a***holes or that I'm not hung up about whether they were born here or not? Eh? Or that I'm so stupid to think that the unions are to blame for everything?! I'd rather inhabit my world than your and 7th's sad old-fashioned one...

Spidey, well done! I'm with you. At Grangemouth, the management haven't covered themselves with glory either. And what's so great about Wester Ross? - I have many relatives there and, every time I go there, I'm glad to get back to slightly more civilised Seil!! But their scenery is stunning!

Yup lot's of whingers on the island, specially up the north end. There are decent people about, waiting at bus stops an the like but they're few an far between...

Dear Spiderman,
I've normally thought of union types as whingers with old-fashioned ideas. Am I wrong? Have you lost your job because the union that you had to be a member of couldn't realise the world was changing? Because I have.
And what is this world you live in? (apart from thinking you are Spiderman?)
Since when did you think Seil was civilised? Talk of whingers.....when did you stop going on about the mobile phone signal?

I don't know what you're trying to say Seventh?
Build a refinery on Seil and staff it with non-unionised labour in the form of semi retired city folk that don't care their pensions are being screwed by the management cos they really don't have to work at all?
Or did you have to queue at the pumps today mingle with the worried middle classes? Is that what's bothering you?
I think you may very well have the 'painters in'

Hi, PP - you're at least right about the mobile phone signal! Definitely, after a decent road, the thing I'd like most for Seil! Anyway, old chap, I have, in my time, been a lowly worker in a union and then later in management in a union - even went on strike as a manager! I've seen both sides and, to me, there's good and bad in each.
Overall, the difference between my world and yours (and 7th's) seems to be that I like mine better! Negativity ain't good for your health, you know - especially at your age!

Spiderman, I live in the real world. Just you watch and see how the Chinese will change your world. Getting a signal on Seil soon won't be a problem courtesy of O2 China or Orangy Red Telecom.

Name one major Industry that is/was heavily Unionised in Britain that hasn't gone to the wall.....or is just about to. Unions are as dangerous for the economy as de-regulation.

Sorry Seventh, this knowledge has just killed off any chance of me going down the road by the golf course at night. But don't worry, I'm sure this sort of 'advert' will guarantee a new clientele, if not one of my own tastes.
At least no one ever tried to unionise the oldest profession in the world: no doubt why it is still doing so well after so long.
