Well chaps, I'm signing off for good now. Its been a pleasure pointing out the errors of your ways over the last couple of years.

Enjoy Seil as it rapidly concretes over.
Puzzle over the lack of Island Games.
Be amused by the sheer lack of ability of anyone at Hall 'ceilidhs' to properly dance a reel.
Curse at the traffic jam of white vans queueing to refurbish another newly acquired second/retirement home.
Shed a tear when Easdale and Luing schools merge then eventually close.
Be sad when the island becomes dry.
Wonder where all the deer have gone when you eat your next venison burger.
Complain at the plague of rabbits as another fox is shot.

Last one over The Bridge switch off (the soon to arrive) traffic lights.

NoS
(seeking arcadia elsewhere)
....so long suckers!

Well farewell to NOS, I hope you find arcadia and a better pace of life else where, there are I am sure many things you will miss when you leave....Seil always brings out some sort of weather anomally and is absolutely stunning for a week before you get out....and you think....do I really want to leave.....then reality slaps you in the face. Or you meet one of our legion of nimbys, or you realise that you could work in Tesco stacking shelfs for Dame Shirley Porter for more pay than the two jobs you have here could ever pay you....etc...etc...etc.

GoodLuck and I hope you find another forum who will have you.

I shall miss NOS, too. I found the following words:
I wish you both the the best in your moves. I'd love to know where you are moving to as I don't know many places better tham Seil in terms of quality of life. Obviously you know better. Without doubt Seil will be better off when negative attitudes head south
But strangely you will find these words were written by NOS, himself, back in March 2006 to Seventhseil no less who suggested he was thinking of leaving. It is sad to think that in such a relatively short time his views on this area should change so much (and that we are stuck with Seventhseil  ). I think it is a sign the so called community should look at itself and ask what does it do to work towards ensuring everyone's happiness?

Wishing you all the best NOS!

Yes I too remember these words......how they hurt, but then a gain I was once young and foolish and thought Seil was a place for fine upstanding people, but it turns out I was wrong.

It's all my fault . . .

I thought that by setting up this forum I would be helping create a sense of community, not destroying it. Seems I was wrong. Perhaps the kindest thing to do would be to shut this down.

Nick, Inasmuch as there is, for me, no resemblance whatsoever between life on Seil as I know it (which is great, friendly, uplifting & positive) and life on Seil as portrayed on this blog (unfriendly, depressing and negative), you are right that, for some odd reason, the blog appears to attract a strange subset of the community. Maybe this can be reversed over time but, in my opinion, you should continue to monitor it with a view perhaps of closing it down if it carries on being a forum for moaners and cynics as this really does nothing for community spirit and presents a really poor image of a great place to the outside world. 8) :loveseil :merryxmas

Those negative vibes

There are many positives to take from this site. Amongst the positve comments, it encourages folk to get things off their chest that they might not otherwise say. Better that way than have resentment festering within parts of the community: better out where something can be done about it.

Perhaps the site naturally attracts those who are lacking in 'life' elsewhere. At least being part of the site helps integrate them into a community they can share in.

Yes, there are some negative views, but I can't think of one poster who is always moaning. Sometimes they are the ones who bring some humour to the debate too. Alot in life is not perfect, but perhaps we should say that as we approach the Festive season no negative views are allowed to be expressed.

You know, I can't wait for Christmas, but really I don't get my best Christmas present until January 31st. I am positively wetting myself with excitement about paying my lovely tax bill by January 31st! :merryxmas Think positive!

Good luck Nos, I look forward to future interactions with your other self.

Now then, what´s all this about shutting down the site? And spider mite entertaining this idea tut tut tut. The forum has brought our community together in its own special way. It gives folk something to talk about, off the web, other than the mundane. It should be here to stay, I say!!

I agree. I've heard many folk comment on the topics discussed on this forum, but claim they don't participate! It gives them something to disagree with!!

Having been on this site coming on 2 years, I have seen many come and many go. Some post a lot and some post not at all. But over all this forum has been an enjoyment to belong to. Do I agree with everyone's posts. No. Do I think that everyone should agree with me. No. This forum is about sharing ideas. The day will come when I move to Seil. And I will meet many of the members in person.

Is the grass greener on the other side of the fence. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. But one should check out the other side to find out. Yes?

Just my thoughts concerning this post. Milage may vary.

Cheers

Bob
