Spidey asked me to delete his membership as he no longer wished to be a member of the forum. His post remain, but his name is in black (as if in mourning for his passing maybe??)

With the new Ignore feature on the forums you don't have to read posts from people you find objectionable . . . and of course they can choose to ignore you too.
So come back Spiderman and just add those you can't thole to your ignore list.

I dont agree with with the ignore button or what ever you call it i think we need to take in everything we see or read on this forum if it's good or bad we might learn lessons from our scando' cousins, most of our place names are norski' like seil and balvicar for instance.

Then you don't have to use it, do you.
Surely the Viking stuff was just a load of crap and a big 'send up'? You don't believe any of it was serious?

Lunatic adolescent stuff . . .

Maybe the 'lunatic adolosescents' think the rest of you are boring old farts. It takes all sorts to make a community.
(And before anyone goes off in a huff the above comment was strictly TIC
)
Anyway, just as in real life now you can ignore those in our online community who irritate you. How anyone can actually
object to that is hard to understand, unless of course their tender egos can't bear the thought that some people may choose to ignore them.
I think the 'ignore' feature mirrors real life rather well . . . you know those people are there, but you don't listen to anything they have to say . . . and as Nonny pointed out, you don't have to use it.

you are a naughty mouse . . . selective quotation with my sig attached is a tabloid technique . . .
But I can't say I have ever thought of you as a BOF

What's a tabloid technique, Nick? Notice I didn't do it again
I meant . . .

by NickB
.
a technique used by the tabloid press . . . in this case I meant quoting just a part of what someone said so it distorts the meaning.
e.g. The book review says:
Most disappointing - this was the least entertaining book by X I have ever read.
The quote on the dust jacket reads:
Most . . . entertaining new book by X I have ever read
In this case it wasn't that you had quoted only a part of my post, it was that you had put my sig at the bottom of the quote so that it might appear as if that was the totality of my post. It was a very tongue-in-cheek comment, not intended to be taken literally.
Anyway, don't worry about it . . . . keep on posting and quoting, and don't take anything
anyone says on here too seriously

BOFs

OK, Nick, I agree that I can also be a BOF at times (but only when not wearing the gimp mask) and, in that context, I would really like to see the bloggers, besides having a laugh, blogging about current issues on Seil. A good starting point might be the minutes of the most recent meeting of the Community Council - things like the dodgy part-time health service around here, the mink that are all around but noone can catch, the sewage works that might clean up our mess or make a bigger one, the new hall that's probably in the wrong place.... and so on. Unfortunately, the BOFs on the CC haven't published the minutes of their July meeting on-line so that's a bit disappointing too. But anyway, there's plenty to get on with if we could muster enough BOFs here to get some good topical discussion going. Most members of this site appear to read others' blogs and say nothing. They're probably BOFs too. Wouldn't it be nice to get the silent BOF majority into this to make it a virtual alternative, maybe complementary, maybe more democratic, CC?!

I do agree that the viking stuff is a sendup but its not crap, its funny with a subtle message perhaps a political one . I think some of youse need a humour switch never mind an ignore button.
Do any of you comrades know what the high frames and netting are for over the road between crianlaraich and top end of loch lomond?
