Loch Seil - Flag

It must have been about a week ago that I first noticed it. ( well, whatever day was breezy about that time!)
There it was; stretched out in all its spleandour as I meandered down the road to conduct my business - a Scotland flag !!! - right in the middle of the lake/ loch/ lochan!!!!!

So what are we to deduce from its existence? - is this one of the minority groups claiming back their country? - a local landowner declaring his patriotism? - a resident wag antagonising the passengers on the Tour Bus?
Indeed, how could it have got there??

Perhaps "Spiderman" could have flown through the air to attach it???
(I'm not suggesting he did, but I am flummoxed as to who else has the ability or means! )

All suggestions welcome......

It sure wasn't me but I do like it!

Maybe it's in case the guy from England wants to build one of his floating island house complexes on this loch too? I think our ancestors had that idea first (as the flag's on the old crannog site). Maybe we need another flag or two moored in Balvicar Bay? Or maybe the folks in Balvicar Bay should worry more about the big sewage works already being planned by the Green Goblins of Scottish Water for their shoreline (to process all the sewage from the whole of Balvicar and around)..... KAPPOW!

Or maybe its simply there to prevent angling boats smacking into the crannog?............Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

It's such a shame today!
Because the wind is blowing from the south, the flag is facing North.
........but it's a one-sided flag!!!

Now it just looks silly !!!

Strange that anyone should suppose that flying a country's flag might antagonise a bus load of visitors!! And what if it did?

I think the planter of the Loch Seil flag suspects there may be oil below the water and is staking a claim on behalf of the Salmon man.....looks good though. The saltire on St Brendan's Hill (overlooking the bridge) is a bit weathered now and will shortly be replaced with a new and much bigger version by the flag committee.
Watch out for more flags appearing over the next few months. The flag committee are considering at least one more saltire and a lion rampant on the island and, I hear, that a rebel committee member has plans for a confederate flag at an undisclosed location on Seil.

Flag committee??? - I obviously haven't been paying enough attention to the local "press" releases.

Is their an AGM and minutes and all that ?

Is it obligatory to fly a Scottish Flag in particular ?

I can only hope that the Flag committee doesn't get hijacked and railroaded in the same way as other island committees allegedly do

For example - would your 'new world order' allow island residents from the West to participate in flag flying and flag related decisions only affecting Clachan sound Or would you have to be more eastern in origin to be considered 'local' enough for such a decision

I like the wee flag... its a lovely splash of colour on a rainy day.. I can't really understand what is strange or offensive in flying the national flag in this great nation..

I actually think it has always been on the crannog but has just been uncovered again.

I see the flag in the garden down near Easdale looks a bit thread-bare. Is that a deliberate remark on our country or just that its "seen better days"??

On the subject of dyslexia- does anyone know why it's such a difficult word to spell? And did you know that there is only 1 word for Thesaurus?

By "down near Easdale" I take it you mean Seaview (Wonder what genius named that place) - Salster.
Yes it is a bit shabby - but proudly flown I'm informed.

hmm ive got to agree with seil sally about this flag on loch seil..it does say dnaltocs when the wind changes direction.

However, are all flags one sided? The 'thread-bare' saltire at Seaview, is this not too one-sided but the pattern shows through to the other side?

Think i need to go and have a closer look at the other flags(seaview, and the hill at the T&T) with my abilities it shouldn't take long. Shall also have a look at the new flags on the roundabout on my way home!

Perhaps we can have a morris dancing pole too and prance around that shaking bells like a shower of t***s

Or get together one night and celebrate your national bard (the man in tights), quoting sonnets to each other whilst dining on warm, flat beer and plates of jellied eels

I am very concerned for the safety of Moonraker, his talk of the national flag is disturbing and should his identity be discovered I would not like to be in his/her shoes (or moonboots) I for one will be taking heed of anyone that may be 'moonwalking' at the summer ceilidhs!!! or for that matter any signs of morris dancing taking place instead of the old Gay Gordons ( how are the old gay gordons anyway - haven't seen them about recently)

PS I am thrilled to see A nonny mouse - I think I may be in love - he/she is CUTE!!!!!!!
