There was a bust? I think it missed Seil. We continue on the upward spiral of pricing people out of existance.

I check the Oban Newspaper each Friday and I think you are right. Prices are still high and rising. I honestly don't know how people live in the area. The waiting list for council housing must be as long as your arm.

Cheers

Again, what council housing? Come to Seil to retire and die, but only if you have a couple of hundred thousand to spend first. No chance for the living here.

Quite simply, the ongoing rise in house prices has had an erosive effect on the social structure of Highland communities for years and is just getting worse. Local young people are, obviously, the most critically affected, but the general implications for community well-being in the future are pessimistic. A scenario where the indigenous population have no choice but to live in caravans is not far away. Unless, of course, our fragile economy, falsely bolstered by a construction industry that is urged to build houses that no-one can really afford, finally falters - as it must.
