Strange isn't it, that "darn sarf" they have a drought but always have water in the taps (at least they did when we lived there) but up here there is an ample supply of water in the environment but none in the taps.

Water it seems will be the next crisis after energy (oil). We have the same problem here in the States. Municiple governments want everyone to be on the city water system but complain about shortages and the water must be treated with large quanities of chemicals. There is a movement now to try and charge farmers for having wells because we are taking water from the environment that should be going to the city water systems. Our water here on the farm has been tested and it is better than the water provided by the city. But they feel we should use thier water because it is "safer". Reality check. They make money selling us water. I think I will stay with our water.

Seems to be the different operating pressures between the new supply pipe from Oban and the existing pipe which supplies Seil. If one of the Scottish Water guys is to be believed the old pipe can't take the pressure that the water is pumped down from the treatment plant in Oban.

Seems the likely explantation. Also, the constant changes in pressure (with the repairs) that the old pipe must be experiencing at the moment can't be helping matters. Imagine the comedy routine for next winter, when the water is pouring out of the sky with none coming out of the taps - time to get the pans outside collecting!

Water is the least of our problems. Who picked all the mushrooms? Not implying anything but Little Dude has gone suspiciously quiet.

Summer is definely here. It seems that everyone must be on Holiday as this board has gone suddenly quite.

Scotland Today has reported that Tony Blair is planning Magret Thatcher's Funeral. The old girl is not even dead yet and they are planning on how to bury her. Now that is Government effeciency for you.

Just been in Texas......that's why it's been quiet. (NOS ...and others will be saying go back there!)

In Houston they had 11.5 inches of rain in six hours last Wednesday.
And they are up in arms about complaining that petrol has hit 2.65 dollars a gallon (3 dollars up in Mass), whereas we are over 8 dollars a gallon.

In Saudi Arabia petrol is 60 cents a gallon, Venezuala just 11 cents a gallon.

Even in Texas they can't have it all.

Pentlandpirate was in the States and I wasn't warned!!!! Well I guess it is too late to lock up the women folk.

Not sure about the fish oil, but there's lots of old chip fat going spare from the cafes & restaurants in Oban - I guess vehicles emitting the smell of chips could be quite appetising. If it gets too bad a wind farm on the hill could help blow the smell away.
