8) :) I have been reliably informed of the demise of PP. He will trouble this site no longer. While he exerted a major intellectual influence on the blogs here, my own view is that his recent baiting had become toxic. So perhaps, in future, potential bloggers will feel more able to contribute here without fear. Thanks for your inputs over the years, PP. And R.I.P. :) 8)

Well if true that is very sad.

PP was one of the earliest and most prolific of members here, he usually had something interesting to say and he never felt he had to take the party line if he felt strongly enough that his opposing view was valid. He didn't bait, just expressed his firmly held opinion. To say his posts had become toxic is both untrue and does someone who has a genuine love for Seil a real disservice.

If his departure is the result of some kind of ban then I am truly saddened.

Perhaps the forum moderator can confirm or not that he has been banned. If so it would be useful for all potential posters to know the reason and perhaps have some examples of what he did wrong so they can avoid committing the same breaches of rules, or whatever.

8) :) Longshanks, listen carefully, because some of this is relevant also to you. I said directly to old friend PP that his recent Nick-baiting stuff on here had become toxic and boring and was perhaps deterring the good folk of Seil from blogging on this site but, in any case, thanks for his significant contributions over the years, live long and happily, sorry to see you go etc. His reply was not one of taking offence (as your reply might imply) but was "Yes, onwards and upwards, KAAPPPOOWWWW I think I'll be better for it too!". Good-natured. So let's move on and try to build a positive community forum free from baiting and bullshit. KAPPOOOOW! :) 8)

While I will not allow public discussion of individual decisions on moderation, had I cause to ban any member I would make public the grounds for such a ban to enable other members to avoid such a fate.

I have as yet not had cause so put your minds at rest. I do not know the reasons for PP's departure.

8) :) Strange reply Herby. PP's exact words to me were as follows:
Love him or hate him PP has gone, killed off, banned, deleted by NickB for daring to answer that perhaps you cannot trust one form of Scottish media on the independence question, Seil Chat, because it is controlled by one individual.
Are you and Nick uncoordinated or was PP economical with the truth? Personally, I don't believe the latter. Puzzled....

Herby and I are not joined at the hip, neither do we feel obliged to refer every moderation decision to each other. Herby would not have had a reason to know about this until he logged on and saw this thread.

I am - as has been pointed out before - not Herby, and feel no need to explain or justify my decision in public other than to refer people to the forum rules and to say that while multiple identities are merely 'strongly discouraged', the use of them for trolling or personal attacks will definitely result in the deletion of both the secondary and the main identities of the member.

As Herby says and as per the forum rules, public discussion of individual decisions on moderation is not permitted. Let's drop it and move on.
