No, not a telltale or the stuff some might smoke...isn't the grass by the road usually cut back by now? It's a helluva job to see what is coming down the road when leaving the shop these days too. Looks like someone has made a halfhearted attempt to cut the growth own...what happened there?
strimmer break down?

Quite right, but it's not the grass that is obscuring vision - it's bushes and embryo trees.
The council did a blitz on branches on the west side of the road between Balvicar and the bridge recently.
But probably money ran out before they could do the other side.
However this lack of visibility coming out from the shop is not the only problem.
Both appproaches to the Clachan (Atlantic) Bridge have blind spots for traffic (particularly from the Oban side).
A few years ago I seem to remember that Miranda got one of her heavy drinkers to cut down a wheen of the obscuring foliage on the mainland side, which made a great improvement to visibility from both directions.
But maybe nowadays private initiative to improve conditions is rather frowned upon.
And the foliage at the bridge at Achnasaul is another cause for concern - three times within the last month I personally have had a bumper to bumper confrontation with oncoming vehicles coming from the Oban direction.
So. Foxglove, I am behind you in drawing attention to this problem, and perhaps your feminine wiles could persuade our Community Council to take up the cudgels and get some official action.
