I am sorry to intrude in this particular thread.
Really, my ignorance on matters contemporary is monumental.
But please someone, tell me why Kay Mathieson should rest in peace?
Not that the majority of the citizens of this country, or any other, should share this outcome, but why single out KM for this treatment?

Kay Matheson is a Scottish Nationalist heroine since she was one of the gang which stole the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey.

The great irony is it is very unlikely that the Stone they took was the original Jacob's Pillow/Stone of Destiny from Scone Abbey but a meaningless replacement for the original. The monks of Scone would have had plenty of warning of Edward's approach and intentions and it is unthinkable that they would not have hidden the real Stone and put out another for Edward to loot when he arrived.

The location of the real Stone of Destiny is a secret kept by the Ruthven family.

Well, thanks for that enlightenment.
It surprises me that the contributors to these pages, have such a vast knowledge of people and what they did, or did not do, and can also remember their names and exploits for decades afterwards. Speaking as a native of Scotland, I can well remember the reportage on the event at that time, but beyond that, my memory is that someone called Donald something, who later became a barrister, or something, was one of the ringleaders, but who the accomplaces were and what part they played in the escapade, is beyond my recall.
It's probably an interesting subject for consideration on what information one considers important for retention, and what is discarded as not relevant to one's continuing existence. Anyway, I will join with the rest of the intellegensia who know more about these things in hoping that Kay Matheson does rest in peace (whatever her claim to fame).
