Query

I see that the link at the top of the page to For Argyll is not there anymore. How so?

.
I originally thought ForArgyll was a news site, and therefore of interest to readers of this forum. In fact at one point I remember describing it to someone in glowing terms as being of the same ilk as the West Highland Free Press. I can be a little naive at times

Nowadays ForArgyll seems to have turned into little more than a series of opinion pieces by the editor, many only peripherally related to Argyll, generally written in a convoluted style and frequently laced with so much hyperbole as to render the content virtually meaningless. Any pretence at journalistic impartiality or balanced reporting has long since left the building (the article Minimum links to is a fairly typical example). ForArgyll did a good job with the schools campaign, but since then the site has - in my opinion - largely been a self-indulgent irrelevance.

All the above is of course my personal opinion. ForArgyll still has the odd interesting snippet of news on it and is a good place for a rant so I might see some of your virtual selves there occasionally - but yes, the link has been removed. It may have helped introduce a few people to the site, but ForArgyll does not need any further assistance or recommendation from me and there are better uses for that wee piece of internet real estate.

So - anyone want to purchase a cheap advertising slot top RHS of this forum please contact me. Might suit a holiday cottage or similar local business, shall we say £150 per annum? Otherwise I'll probably put Google ads or an Amazon link there, or even just a Webcraft advert.

For Argyll is a blog site. Anyone who believes that it has any journalistic credibility is somewhat misguided. Treated for what it is - a blog site - it can be quite entertaining.

Um - there was a Batwing post here earlier, obviously submitted by Nick. What happened to it?

I deleted it because it wasn't made by Batwing.

I've sent you a PM Minimum.

Agree with your comments on FA - it was naive of me to ever think they were a news site. The replacement link is to an outfit that does have some journalistic credibility.
