The problem is that if you just hit the 'quote' button, as I have just done, the whole quote will be pasted into the message. I guess the next step would be to edit the text. I tried highlighting the bit I wanted but it still put in the full quote.

Press the 'quote' button. You'll see everything from the post you want to quote from.

Delete everything you don't want to use from that quote between {quote="whoever it is you're quoting"} and {/quote} but make sure your brackets are [ ] and not { } like I've just used!

Thanks for elucidating on MCT and EMEC (I will probably have forgotten these by tomorrow) but then he throws another wobbly at us with UKAS.
I managed to get all the above stuff on to this form by clicking on the bottom right QUOTE.
But it gave the whole posting which filled the screen and would not let me add my own piece at the bottom. The only way round this was to delete the top part of the quote, to leave a usable space at the bottom - even now the quote stuff at the top is not in the nice blue box and has all sorts of brackets and stuff.
Heigh ho- lets see what happens after posting.

I agree with Beetlejuice, operational issues concerned with 'quotes' are distracting from this renewables thread.

I appologise UKAS stands for The United Kingdom Accreditation Service which is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.

Just a suggestion as I do not seem to be the only one having problems with quotes.
There is a long list of forum rules but there is absolutely nothing for beginners on forum instructions on how to go about the intracies of posting.
Might I humbly suggest that a primer on how to go about the various options would be a good thing, and might even encourage others to contribute.

Try the FAQ button up at the top of the page - it is pretty extensive and comprehensive.

Extensive and comprehensive it may be but the word QUOTE or any indication of how to use it does not appear anywhere.
