The new (February) Seilachan is now available online.

I see the creeping suburbanisation of Seil is to continue with the introduction of a speed limit between the T&T and the Ardmaddy road. Street lights and traffic lights on the bridge next?

SECC have applied on behalf of the community for the Vodaphone Initiative which would see an improved signal in the local area. The application has been acknowledged by Alan Reid (MP).

Agreed Spiderman. I had yet another client on the phone yesterday wanting advice on setting up their business e-mail accounts on the company iphones. It's a bit embarrassing to confess that you aren't that familiar with the process because you live in a cave somewhere. Smartphones are an essential business tool now, and it is time Seil's 'quaint' lack of signal was sorted.

A slight correction to the post above about the speed limit.
It has nothing to do with the Ardmaddy road, and starts (coming towards the island) from just before the Atlantic bridge, and finishes somewhere near Alma Cottage, although it would probably be more sensible to include the bad bend there and have the finish just beyond the Ardencaple road.
On my last return from Oban, I tested out a reasonable speed to cover this stretch and found it to be about 33/34 mph. Given the 10% discretionary leeway allowed before criminal proceedings are undertaken, I cannot see many penalty points accruing to locals, should the police ever decide to set up a speed trap on this stretch of road. One place where this limit would be of particular benefit is the Cnoc Achalltuinn junction where the visibility limit in both directions is abysmal, and would never get planning approval in the current climate.

Why are the CC Minutes no longer on line?
Whilst on the subject when and where is the next meeting. Hopefully before the consultation period for the windfarm expires otherwise why did they send us the questionaires?

The last minutes I was sent were those for September 2011, which are online.

Since Jane Nichols left I have heard nothing, and have certainly not been sent the minutes for the November and January meetings to put on the site. The new secretary has not been in touch, and when I do put the date of the next meeting up it is because I have gleaned it from the Seilachan. Whether this is because the Community Council no longer wish the minutes to be so readily available or whether it is an oversight I wouldn't like to say.

I have now put up the date of the next meeting (Tuesday 27 March 19:00, (7pm) in Seil Hall.) but I have to emphasise that this is from the Seilachan, and that has in the past been inaccurate. (Only once to my knowledge though).

No questionaire here either. I've taken the step of informing the CC of my objection to the windfarm by email to the secretary.

Two points-
1) The Seileachan is made up with information received from outside sources, and unless there are glaring discrepancies, everything received is included in good faith. If the Seileachan gets information wrong (except in the case of Malcolm McKechnie) it is the fault of the information supplier.
2) With regard to the SECC (which will probably become common practice, despite conflicting with Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre) questionnaire on the Wind Farm proposal. I would like to compliment them on producing something which is easy to understand, prevents vote rigging, and can cover regoinal variations in opinion. Also it has various easy options for returning the completed questionnaire. The fact that there are three options, easily understood, should help to prove that an upcoming referendum could easily include multiple options, without confusion.
