Easdale RIB Rendezvous 5th/6th May 2012
Posted: Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:22 am
The Easdale RIB Rendezvous will take place over the weekend 5/6 May 2012.
The majority of RIBs are likely to arrive late afternoon Fri 4th.
We apologise for any potential disruption. We will try to keep this to a minimum. We hoope that the community in general will see the event as a means of promoting Seil and Easdale within tourism which is one of the area's major employers. Seafari staff will be on hand to help organise.
The intention of the event is to try and promote the area to a wider range of tourists. Our local area has some of the best (we actually believe it is the best) small boat cruising grounds in Europe. As the event is in early May we hope it will bring a small welcomed boost to accommodation providers, the restaurants and the Stores. We do know of some people attending who have booked a week's self catering accommodation before or after the event. Last year some of the boats also returned later in the season.
The 2011 event attracted over 45 boats. All 'head to sea' for the day. This year we hope to head up the Sound of Mull. If the weather is good it could be around Mull via Treshnish, Staffa and Iona. Poor weather it may be Tobermory and Salen (Loch Sunart).
If you own a RIB why not join us.
We have been in contact with Strathclyde Police, Coastguard, A&B Counci and are trying to spread the word locally so people are made aware of what is going on. Please be reassured RIBs the size of those used by Seafari will not be filling the roads, the average ize of the RIBs that came last year was around 6m - (the Seafari RIBs are 11m).
