A mobile signal for Seil

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Well done, you guys! Great to see this initiative going ahead. I still remember the many negative responses made on this site back in summer 2007 when I first raised the subject. Nice to know that things - and Seil residents - have moved on so much in the last few years. Please sign up and encourage your friends. Life will be so much easier and safer!
Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Does it all have to be online? I know people who want to sign [come on holiday here] but have no pc. Maybe a paper petition in the shop? We might get a lot more signatures.
Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Or a tear-off form/page in the next Seileachan?

You can access the petition on your phoneFoxglove wrote:Does it all have to be online? I know people who want to sign [come on holiday here] but have no pc. Maybe a paper petition in the shop? We might get a lot more signatures.
No reason not to have a paper petition in the shop if someone wants to organise it. You sound like the person to do that, Foxglove.
Online petition is now up to 57 signatures.

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Can't agree more Spidey !!
We should be highlighting our 'lack of signal' on Seil when I see the front page of OT today
Complaints about lack of service on Coll and other areas in Argyll being serviced by VODAFONE
Think I will be writing to OT to highlight that we DON'T EVEN HAVE A SIGNAL !
Any other Forum members feel likewise - (topical issue and all that !!! ) They might print on the back of this ?
What do you think ?

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
If anyone could do a bit of blurb about this initiative, and how to respond to it, I would be happy to include in the next Seileachan - due out early August.

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Hats off to all involved here, it's good to see that we have managed to rekindle what is in no doubt a very serious concern to most people , and vey good to see not only the local support but the support from others outwith the community.
I Think a tear off slip on the bottom of the Seilachan is a great idea, and I am sure that this will now only end up with a good outcome.

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
But most tourists won't see the Seilachan, but many will use the shop. Tourists, I'm sure would want to sign. And sorry..don't ask me to organize anything...could not do the proverbial in a brewery..

.
Foxglove, you are the only one who is agitating for a bit of paper in the shop, yet you are not prepared to do it. Who do you think should do it and why?
The online petition now has 61 signatures.
I would have thought the signatures of locals - with good reasons expressed - would be more significant than those of tourists. People with local businesses, holiday properties etc. should definitely all sign.

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
I'm not agitating for anything .I've managed to live for many years without a mobile signal so really don't care that much for myself. However..I do think that many want it. All I'm doing is putting forward an idea to get as many signatures as possible. Given the amount of visitors we have in the summer...?

Sorry to go on about it again but if you have signed the petition and you are on Facebook please make sure you have also used the 'invite friends' option to invite people you know on Facebook who you think would be keen to sign. Let's get this up to 100 signatures ! (Currently 62)

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Jimcee has said he would be happy to put something in the next Seilachan if anyone would care to supply the text. I don't know if he would run to a tear-off slip though.spiderman wrote: Or a tear-off form/page in the next Seileachan?
72 signatures online now.
Did people see the article in this week's Oban TImes where people were complaining about problems with the Vodaphone signal dropping out? That's an ideal opportunity surely for a few of us writing a letter to point out that we have no signal at all . . .
(Oops . . . Just realised snowman already suggested that - sorry Snowy)

Nick
Could the link to Seil Chat on the Seil Online Homepage use this thread as an example rather than the name of the bridge ?
and/or a direct link to petition on homepage ?
I have written to OT but agree that more responses might be helpful as follow up

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Good thinking. I've done both those things - though I'm not sure about the thread link as this thread goes badly off-track down Indy Avenue for about half its current length . . .snoman wrote:Nick

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Seileachan - Tear off strip is a non-starter - even if it were possible, where would it go?
However the option of a bit of publicity, and how to register support is still open, if anyone cares to produce some copy.
Contact email backtrack to my last post.

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Snoman,
Not quite sure what is meant in your message.
Seileachan has website link to Community page under the banner.
Contributors who wish to be contacted have either telephone and/or email contact included.
Any copy about mobile signal coverage would have to include details of the reason, and a SIMPLE way to register support included - tear-off slips not practical.
Copy normally arrives by email, but can also handle telephone messages and ordinary mail
If this does not answer your queries, please contact again.

Re: A mobile signal for Seil
Have we got the 100 yet? (Can't get onto the change.org site to see - browser related issues on laptop which I'm not going anywhere near for now ...)
Have sent off the link to everyone I can think of, but if we're not there yet I could probably try and drag a few more people out of the woodwork - as could we all, I'm sure.

Twelve needed then. Surely we can do that. Come on folks. Sending the link off doesn't take much effort. And if we don't reach the 100 then we prove that we're all blether, no willpower and no action ... and no result, eh?
Let's DO it - or lose it!!!
