Interesting what you said, Longshanks, about the S-K will because the local gossip I heard, or was it in the OT?, was that surprisingly she left no money to local charities. Are you sure? Did she leave a huge amount to the hall fund? Never heard mention of that. How much was involved?

Dont know much about F-SKidd's will, but do know that she loved this Island and was kind to animals, she did used to breed Shetlands. She would never have raised birds so tame a three year old could have shot one with a cap gun or left poisoned bait out for the raptors.
She did have a wicked sense of humour and had been around the block a few times in her day, good for her.
The establishment made sure her children were taken away from her at the time she married Peter Shand Kidd. They were very good to the scout movement and had the scout camp there on Ardencaple.
Peter was on old snob but Francis loved to chat with local "ordinary" people and no, Seventh I am not a forlock tugging twat [ don't you just love that phrase] but I don't have any axe to grind with Francis unlike some of the other retired old county snobs around here that would have you flogged for picking the daffodils.

Very glad to see the Christmas tree lit up tonight. I was afraid it would be gone!
