I think we are losing sight of what Natural History is all about. Most definitions would include the study of living things (e.g. biology, including botany and zoology).

Other definitions extend the topic to include paleontology, ecology or biochemistry, as well as parts of geology and physics and even meteorology.

The extent of my knowledge as it is, concerns living things and that is hopefully what we shall be studying. The fact that we could be heading towards the annihilation of vast numbers of species is not on the agenda. I will leave that to experts who have a far greater knowledge than I.

Hmmm, seems to be getting too serious to me - while I know it's a very serious subject I don't want to feel I'm back at school again and get told off if I find some things amusing.

  Yes you're quite right Canu, I promise I won't be too strict.  I think caning is out of the question these days, but I'm a good shot with a piece of chalk and there's always the ruler on the back of the nuckles, that works !

Can't wait for Wednesday 14th November now, the pleasure will be all mine !
