I think that before anyone makes any further comments on this subject they should read this comment HERE on the PACT website.
Dr Henderson makes a very good point and should be admired for his stance.
He mentions, specifically, SeilChat and ForArgyll.
I think that HuskerDoo's most recent post on SeilChat was bang out of order in this connection but, apart from that, only a couple of early posts were too close to home.
The thread about LEAF on ForArgyll is, however, far worse. I've just read the whole thing. Pro-Windfarm activists were making direct connections between those who object to windfarms and Denialism, Nimbyism etc in an occasionally unpleasant way. The main culprit has, in fact, been forced to make a grovelling apology.

NicB...is it best to now close this thread and start afresh? Its not right that respected local people should be upset by what is written here.

The 'main culprit' on For Argyll that you refer to was me - as I am sure you know, Longshanks. (For those who don't know, I post on renewable issues as Scots Renewables on For Argyll). The apology was not 'grovelling', nor was I 'forced' to make it - it was made spontaneously because I realised that a comment I made might be seen as a personal attack. It was never intended as such, though you may think the worst of me if you choose - your perogative. The moral is type once, revise twice before hitting the Post button.

Although the PACT website has published a few comments by climate change deniers these have not been local people, nor has any PACT member publicly stated that they do not think climate change is a real problem. As you say, PACT are to be commended for making their position clear. They have said unambiguously that PACT is about stopping Clachan windfarm, not about an anti-renewables crusade in general or a campaign to question the established tenets of climate science.

Judging by the objections on Argyll and Bute's website PACT has done a good job in 'getting the vote out' and I for one am expecting that the planners will return a resounding NO to Rory Young's plans. I have mixed feelings about this, but that is democracy in action. Those who would seek to shut down a few dissenting voices on a website like this I am less sure about.

I'm not closing this thread or taking any other bossy Admin action that might get me yet more criticism . . . this thread will die a natural death and sink like all its predecessors if people let it. And - I'm not starting any more windfarm threads on Seil chat . . . . too stressful.

I do however think that discussing people by name who choose not to participate in this forum, while it may not be threatening or libellous, is a little insensitive. That is purely my opinion, not intended as a criticism of any other poster

So, were windmills ever needed at all? And who's paying for all those that have been built and will still be built?
