Post by An-Islander »

Are there Squirrels on Seil, A garden bird feeder is being covered with small stones as if to hide the food inside!!

Any suggestions as to if not squirrel's what might do such a thing?

I've seen some grey squirrel's crossing the road near Clachan
but never up here in Balvicar - suspect there is more tree line
nearer the bridge !!

Have you looked at the board at the shop ?

Needless to say there have been more remarkable sightings recently !!

Don't ask about rabbits however !!!

A reliable source tells me red squirels are around Clachan Seil. I personally have not seen them on the island but have on the Ardmaddy road, Achnasaul and at old Clachan Farmhouse.

I have also been told that they were present in the woodlands around and behind Tigh an Truish around 20-30 years ago.

I think the 'greyer' colour comes about in the winter months. If you want a fairly regular sighting try around Kilninver Church.
