Election results

Post by Minimum »

In my opinion, the local election results are excellent news for our area. Good luck to all those who were elected.

Well done those. Why is there a post on Easdale People saying we should all sleep soundly now that Donald Melville did not do well? Is there something we should know? I mean..if people put themselves up to be representative of the 'people' shouldn't they be squeaky clean? Or is this a smear campaign? And if it is...should this be allowed??

The idea that anyone who presents themselves for election should be "squeaky clean", is not borne out by disclosures of transgression by those in elected authority - almost daily in one form or another. So politicians tend to be lumped in with estate agents, second hand car salesmen, and ambulance chasing lawyers, when it comes to integrity.
That is not to say that there are genuine, working for the common good, honest, and above reproach, politicians out there somewhere, but how one recognises the breed among the charlatans is difficult.
Of course, it could be argued that the initial motives are as pure as snow, but once power is achieved, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely (not my pronouncement).

It was a close thing he lost out by 11 votes he would have been a good councilor

I'd guess that the comment on Easdale People reflects the Rockers' (perhaps justifiable?) angst about what the repercussions might be for the island if a director of the so-called "community development company" became a councillor with some influence over, say, planning matters.
What did Neil MacKay do to rattle people's cages and get knocked out? And does anyone know anything about our new boy Iain Angus MacDonald?

So nobody knows, then :?:
What does anybody think about the way that A&BC is shaping up now?

For all those confused by STV I offer the following

http://forargyll.com/2012/05/ewan-kenne ... able-vote/

Crystal clear eh! :smashPC

Take note, questions will be asked at tomorrow's 'fun' Quiz at TNT. First prize I hear will be an Hons degree in transparent Election Voting Systems.

I wonder if I could employ the same system when betting on next year's Grand National?

"Sorry Gov, only first past the post 'ere!" :spock:
Don't Blame Me - I voted YES!

In reply to Foxglove, suggest he/she has a look at the Easdale People posting dated 20/2/12 by 'Keith':

This is a response to the subject 'Editorial Comment'

Keeping the lid tightly on the can, and store in a locked cupboard would be the best thing.
