Support the proposed Oban transit marina

Post by NickB »

.
Oban Bay Marine have had to submit a new planning application for the proposed Oban transit marina because there have been a few changes to the original plans. Primarily these are making it a piled marina rather than anchoring the pontoons, and moving the pedestrian access from the North Pier to the Esplanade.

More details on the Oban Bay Marine website

Various groups have been trying to get a marina established in Oban for 30 years, but the Council are somewhat anti-yacht and have blocked every attempt in spite of repeated presentations showing how much money a 'walk ashore' berthing facility could bring into the town. If you would like to show support for the marina then you can register your comments on the Council website HERE before the end of Tuesday.

Well well . . . after over 100 comments over the weekend the part of the Council website that allows you to comment seems to have gone mysteriously AWOL. Am I being unduly cynical by wondering if the 100+ comments received over the weekend might mysteriously vanish into the ether to never be seen again?

There would appear to be a general problem with access to the A&B planning website.

Convenient, isn't it? There's a new article on ForArgyll.

Update 18.00 Tues:

I have just been reliably informed that A&BC say they have all comments up to the point where the website went down. They say there were around 120 comments at that point.

There is a notice outlining an alternative way to submit comments on the ‘ search for a planning application’ page thus:

Please note: we are currently experiencing problems with our online planning and building standards system. We hope to have this up and running again as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you would like to make a comment on a planning application, please email us at: centralvalidationteam@argyll-bute.gov.uk . If you are looking for more information on a planning application, please call us on 01546 605518
