Group to establish better waste recycling facilities

Post by NickB »

We would like to set up a group to establish better waste recycling facilities on our Islands - either collection points or door to door collection etc.- for plastics, aluminium, paper, clothing and so on.

If you are interested or have any ideas, please let Tina Jordan know on 01852 300075 or indicate your interest on this board.

Group to establish better waste recycling facilities

 It would be a very good idea, but why don't our council do what others have done?

My sister, in Glasgow, now has two wheely bins, one for ordinary waste and the other for recyclable materials. Each one gets emptied, alternately, once a fortnight.

The big surprise was that the "Recycle" bin was usually very full, while the ordinary bin was, most often, less than half full. We are such a wasteful society.

I'd be interested in helping in some way.
