We are issuing an amber weather alert for sunshine today.
Winds may drop to below gale force at times.
You all be careful out there now!

Re: Amber alert
.
Just phoned the hydro board to point out that the pole with the transformer on it opposite the shop is leaning at a drunken angle and may go over in the next storm. They are going to send someone to take a look. Nothing more than F7-8 on the horizon for the next week though, which is a relief.
Off to put the shed at the garden the right way up again (3rd time its blown over in 6 weeks, time for some serious tie-downs).

Re: Amber alert
Thanks for warning on the sun.
As for the wind it must only be force 6, northerly and decreasing.
Please look out for low flying, much overdue washing items, over Balvicar!
Positively tropical

Re: Amber alert
I have noticed a curious phenomenon in the sky today - it was filled with clouds of a strange blue colour, completely unifom with no structure at all, and not producing significant quantities of rain. I have seen photographs of such blue clouds before, usually in holiday brochures. Anybody know what they are exactly? The more normal grey jobs seem to be returning now so probably nothing to get alarmed about.

Back to normal now.
Can we have lashing rain, Nick, instead of gently drifting snowflakes?

Re: Amber alert
This mention of a drunken electricity pole near the shop, prompts me to see whether the grapevine can come up with an explanation to the following -
Just past the cemetry (the new one) on the way to Cuan, on the opposite side of the road and in the corner of a field, are two unusual looking electrical edifices sitting on top of wooden boards, and looking completely out of place in these rural suroundings. They have been there for weeks, and all this recent weather cannot have been improving their appearance or their functional capability (water and electricity don't mix according to the pundits).
Is this a case of Fly-tipping?

.
Drunken electricity pole was being fixed when I went to the shop this morning.
I think the things beside the Cuan road may be the old transformers on the line to Luing that were replaced during a planned outage last year.
