BUILDING IN BALVICAR

Post by parky »

I object to the building site in Balvicar which has been left in this state for well over a year. It is a dump and an eyesore.
Does anyone else feel the same. Our island is being ruined by gratuitous speculation.

Parky,

Sorry, I've been away sailing and missed your post waiting for approval. Welcome aboard (finally).

I presume you mean the TSL-sponsored bombsite at the corner? They appear to be using it to store increasing amounts of unsightly junk, must be very handy for them. The new house beside Clachan Dubh farmhouse is allegedly owned by one of the directors of TSL - perhaps someone could have a word with him and find out if they are ever going to clean it up?

Dear Parky

If you take a 'wider' walk around Balvicar village you will see that the site at Balvicar Cross is not the only derelict building development

Sadly it seems that once planning permission is granted by A and B Council that some building takes on a rather European perspective (foundations or unfinished developments)

And while we're on the subject of TSL and unsightly building sites, what on earth's going on down at Dunearn? That looks to be turning into more of the same - machines, piles of earth, bog ...

Have been in touch with A & B Council who advise this builder has planning permission in perpetuity. I have been told, though cannot confirm, this builder is doing this over large parts of Argyll. I advised the Council the builder, therefore, has permission in perpetuity to create unfinished building sites anywhere and leave his mess behind him.
