The parliamentary motion referred to in Peter's third thread (the Courier) is motion number S4M-00586. A Google search will find the full text. I see that our local list MSP has supported it.

In which case I'm glad I voted for him. He supported a motion which says people should not be forced to partake in something with which they don't agree.. Quite right too. We don't live in some kind of facist or some kind of communist dictatorship. If an individual does not agree with something there's no way they should be forced to partake in it, whatever it is.

Erm . . . like Religious education in schools? The new sewage works? 'Green' taxes? The census? Most of us are from time to time forced to participate in things we might not agree with but which are part of the legal or structural framework of our society. It's part of the deal.

There are people who do not believe that women should be allowed to drive. Of course they are entitled to that opinion, but if they happen to be a driving examiner should they also have the right to refuse to examine any female applicants?

The SNP should feel ashamed. It is even more disappointing that a parliamentary 'representative' for Argyll can appear to support discrimination. I wonder how he can believe that he is representing the views of the people. But then again, history shows that he seems unable to accept community opinions and has only been interested in his own. It is a disgrace.

I guess you're joking there. I've never ever met anyone who believes that. I've now studied all the presscuttings on the first post from PeterConnelly and now I see the purpose of starting the thread. Its an attempt to smear the SNP by implying that its funded by someone who doesn't like homosexuality being taught to children, by saying it wants a motion to allow people not to marry homosexuals if the don't want to, and by saying that Mr MacKenzie is part of it too. Won't stop me voting SNP anyway.

Having come on this discussion purely by chance, in an attempt to keep up with new postings, I must say that reading the thing from beginning to end, it is one of the most difficult to follow discussions, it has been my lot to come across.
Surely some plain speaking should be in order - it would appear that the original topic had something to do with same sex marriages and the Scottish Parliament, although judging by all the subsequent comments, everyone is pussyfooting around the subject.
Perhaps our esteemed moderator should instigate one of his polls to suss out the opinion of the protagonists on whatever the motion in contention is - from all the foregoing - this is not very clear.

Well there you go - what is with this site?
I type out Same Sex in all good faith and it comes out as SPAM.
On reviewing my efforts on submission it comes out as SPAM.
So I do a correction and retype Same Sex.
Still it comes out as SPAM.
So - someone tell me please - what is SPAM and why cannot I type same sex for it to appear as it does on my screen.

Having now perused all my latest submissions, it now seems obvious that it is impssible to print the word s-e-x on this site without it being translated as SPAM - where on earth do we go from here -
There is no discrimination against SPAM.
SPAM is a foodstuff but also an indication of one's gender.
My SPAM was inherited before I ever came across a tin of the stuff.
I like SPAM either tinned or in it's natural state.
