.
For some reason the current resurfacing works involve digging deep vertically sided trenched across the full width of the road in various places. Unfortunately the people on the job do not seem to have brought enough ramp signs, neither have they given much thought to the positioning of them.
I have just survived an encounter with one of these trenches positioned about 20ft over the brow of the hill at this end of Loch Seil. The ramp sign was positioned on the edge of the chasm and was not visible until I had crested the hill. Even if I had been doing 30mph (which I wasn't) the car would have hit the trench with enough speed to potentially cause substantial damage.
I have moved the ramp signs and added a couple of cones and mentioned this to the man who watches the JCB, but of course this is a mobile operation and there is no knowing where the next trap will be set, so my advice would be to only go into town if your journey is really necessary and if you do to stick to 30mph between Clachan and Kilninver anywhere you do not have a clear sight of the road well ahead.
I am sure it is all going to be lovely when it is finished though.
This has been a public service announcement . . .

Thanks ever so much McAdmin, don't know how we'd all stay safe without your little gems.

The situation with these trenches is pretty exceptional even by Argyll and Bute standards. I am a reasonably skilled driver but was lucky to avoid damaging the car, so I thought it might be worth warning people. Have also passed on the message via the shop - perhaps you would like to go and be rude to them as well?
Rest assured that if I could have found a way to warn everyone except you I would definitely have done so
When are you emigrating?
