Random

Post by shygirl78 »

I have a liking for random little motivational/inspirational quotes and sayings. One of my favourites for many years - 'happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it eludes you. But, if you turn your attention to other things, it will come to rest softly on your shoulder'.
It has been a favourite for so long I can't remember its origin.
Anyway, not only is it beautiful in its simplicity, but I think a saying that could be applied to a variety (but not all) areas of life.
Music wise this week, I have been listening to Bocelli and Verdi whilst doing my art studies. And on my mini ipod to get me through a day at the office, Keith Urban and Shawn Mullins, both American country style singers.
As my most recent break away was to Seil it is my latest destination to recomend... yes, yes I know, as would everyone else on this forum. So, I'd like to recomend somewhere in the Northeast for those of you who are unfamiliar. Pennan, a beautiful if very small village just up the coast from Fraserburgh which has a lovely harbour for swimming and nearby cliff walks. If you follow the coast upwards there are so many more small fishing ports and lovely beaches, another favourite being Cullen.

Hi Teddy

Glad you liked the post.

My my, I can see by the time I get my laptop up and running again at home I'm going to have quite a few music recommendations to get through which is excellent! :D
At the moment am sneakily writing this at work and hoping none of the boss men see me!

I haven't listened to country a great deal (other than the singers I mentioned), but must admit the genre is growing on me more and more (as are most other genres of music!), always good to find new stuff. One other singer I've listened to that has some quite good songs is Toby Keith.

Thanks again for your recommendations!

Been checking out Keith Urban, via his greatest hits album. Very good (although it’s possible that an unintended consequence of this thread might be bankruptcy). A couple more suggestions: Anais Mitchell, who was new to me until this weekend. And Mary Margaret O’Hara; (her album Miss America is probably her best known); MMO’s output makes The Blue Nile look particularly productive, so there’s not much to choose from. She seems to have an attitude for perfectionism quite similar to The Blue Nile’s, which accounts for her having very few releases. Oh, and Ruth Notman’s album Threads; one of the ever-increasing new wave of young folk artists coming through in the UK. Off to check out Teddy’s recommendation now…

Oh, it's so unfair, I have to wait probably another two weeks until I can check out recommendations....

Nice one Mr C. Remember and browse until you find the 'best' one. Sure you have figured it out though!
