Footpath or Walks

Post by martynjg1 »

Hi to all on Seil.

Having visited and stayed on Seil on quite a few occassions we find it quite frustrating that there are litlle or no marked walks on the Island. We think that there should be a costal path going right around the island. Something like this would be good for business and would probably be safer than having a lot of people walking along the roads.

Your thoughts please

What / whose business would it be good for?

Don't mind him, Martyn. A coastal footpath is a great idea. It might need a few immigrant plonkers who have Private - No Access notices discouraging access to reverse their ways but it would indeed be a very attractive project for the island. Maybe we can get the windfarm-derived community bribe money to pay for the footpath development?

Easdale round at the Sloch is near-impossible for most and beware the Nazi at Cuan...

Just follow the coast. No don't. CanUsmell that is right. It's hard at Easdale.

(Which Nazi? The "high tide line" Nazi with the big house?)

(Sorry)

There is a couple of books on the topic.

One is called "Walks around Oban and Lorne" or something similar. There is another called "Journeying in Macdougall Country". Lots of hill forts disguised as piles of stones and moss to check out.

There are a lot of paths around.

It's relatively easy to do a good circular walk around Seil.

Start at the OB (have one for the road if it's open) and go off to the T'n'T over the hills for more refreshment; from there along to Balvicar Store for a can of beer to quench one's thirst and buy a bottle of wine for later; down to Cuan mostly via the coast; then back along the beach sitting awhile with a glass of wine soaking up the evening sun; finally walk out at Sea View and back to the OB for a night cap. A grand days walk - hic!
