It's not that cryptic Mona.
Our brave ferrymen quickly responded to a MayDay call and doubtless played some part in saving the crew of a fast sinking vessel.
My point is this - to own and operate a VHF radio - it is a mandatory requirement to have an operator license ( which is free!). The council, in their infinite wisdom didn't seem to think that this applied to them - and things like radios might get wet on open boats anyway - that is until the recent MCA inspection told them otherwise.
If it wasn't for the recent boot up the a**e by the MCA - how many dead yachties would the council have on its conscience?
