The road repairs

Post by insideman »

Psst.... wanna know a secret? On Thursday 9th April BB (at their own expense!!) will be repairing the worst of the potholes (and hopefully them all) in time for the tourists coming over Easter. So please be patient on Thursday if you get held up when the tarring is taking place and leave in plenty of time for any appointments. Remember BB are doing this off their own back and repairing potholes that are not in their scope of works to do. Have a happy Easter folks

Due to circumstances outwith BB control (tar plant getting their quantities wrong) only a few of the potholes got done today. Sorry guys - BB will try to catch the rest next week (perhaps Wed.)

Are you having some kind of joke at MacB's expense?
Got the tar quantities wrong....so wrong that there was only enough to fill four small holes!
You're having a larf.

I am not usually one to moan (plenty others here to fill that function) but I do take issue with the quality of the repairs done so far. Granted a plop of tar shoved into a chasm is better than a chasm but some effort could have been made to make the surface of the shovelfull of new tarmac roughly the same as the surrounding road surface.

Perhaps I am doing an injustice and the work on those 3 or 4 holes is not yet finished. Certainly I had high hopes that the repairs would be to the high standard we have up to now seen from BB (and I certainly hoped they would be to a higher standard than the feeble and seemingly random efforts of ABC on the hill by Loch Seil).
Bless,

The Vicar

It's a lovely day a week on - a great day for tarring operations. What's the story in Balfourmory InsideMan?

I see a vigilante pothole filler has dumped some spare concrete in one of the bigger potholes up near the treatment plant - is this the way forward?

Seems to me that insideman is telling porkies about his relationship to the BB cognescenti and we've all fallen for it.
:dftt
At least good old Argyll and Bute Council managed a little bit of resurfacing near Kilninver church yesterday.

What were all those tankers doing on the island this week? Perhaps emptying the system of all our poo because it had failed to work over its four week trial run?
What next?
I hereby withdraw my satisfied votes from the recent poll.

Insideman,

What is the story re the tankers of last week?

Oban rumour has it that tanker or tankers were seen at the main treatment works and at Cnoc a' Challtuinn causing something of a guff :doh :doh :!:

Was there was a malfunction of the system and if these tankers were being used for effluent disposal where was it dumped :( :(
I had a Schottische last night but I'm much better now thank you!

I was informed that the tankers were full of raw (imported) crap in order to test the system was functioning as well as the forum, I mean as expected...

Thanks very much for filling in them potholes!, whoever you are... my wee one had a run in(to) with one of them up near the school...(must admit, partially my fault: we were saying hello to the gentleman painting the stones next to the big wall, and wee one loves company)...I hadn't been on the lookout for nasty holes in the ground and wee one fell off trike that had slumped into hole. Big brave boy did not cry, possibly because he could not see scrape on chin (and mother fought urge to shriek). Wee one now has bike with training wheels and safety gear!!!! and mother who recces area in advance.
And filling in the holes on the side of the road near the hall means that we no longer have to go into the middle of the road or into the mud on the edge in order to avoid icky puddles, so thank from the newbies.
living life one bite at a time...unless, of course, there's a not so wee cookie jar nearby?

Still watching "Big man" - its all resting on somebodies shoulders - I'm sure the snagging and small works boys can handle it from here on in. Us big job guys have moved on leaving our "trainees" behind. Here's a tip - try to keep everyone happy all the time - see how it works for you.
