Mona Lott vs NickB (boring)

Post by MonaLott »

Good news - and exactly as some of us predicted - and precisely contrary to Nick's previous scary news gained by face-to-face discussion with the BB boss. Methinks your leg is a favourite for pulling, Nick!

Methinks there has been a change of heart. I suggest you read Insideman's post plus his previous post on the pipe thread more carefully Mona.

And perhaps you should also consider what you are saying more carefully. Essentially you are claiming that Ian Frew tells lies to Balvicar residents for fun. I don't get that impression of the man myself. I think it is much more likely that there was a change of heart due to the number of people that contacted Balfour Beattie to express their worries and concerns as per my previous suggestion and Insideman's previous invitation.

Anyway, whatever, the reason, thanks to Ian and the team - and our wee red car says thanks as well.

Sorry, Nick, I was told by Ian Frew that this restoration of the road would happen right from the start. I think you were slightly teased...

So you are calling Ian Frew a liar? You're very brave Mona.

If he is an inveterate leg puller as you claim, then isn't it just as likely that he was pulling your leg? I certainly would if I got the chance - you are a pretty irrestistible target :)

But perhaps he hasn't lied to either of us - has that occurred to you? Perhaps the situation changed. Might have been related to the project going massively over budget, might have been related to a deterioration in relations between the contractors and the Council . . . either sounds likely to me, but perhaps it was a combination.

Now we are going to get the potholes filled as a favour. That's great, but it doesn't mean anything except that Balfour Beattie have listened to peoples' concerns and responded in a decent and responsible way. Good for them.

(The last four posts were moved to a new thread by admin as they are off-topic and of little interest to most people)

If I may say so without getting banned, you're such a drama queen, Nick! And I really think that my initial comment was fully justified (and doesn't deserve to be annexed in a side-thead like this) because several of us have said all along that BB would see Seil right - would leave the place much better off than we started - and so it is turning out. Now you guys are focusing on the pipe and the green boxes and the trees but really you should all show a lot more patience and much more good faith....

Methinks (ooooh, I do like that word) you are doing yourself down Nick.
Personally I think that the main reason things are now turning out so swimmingly is totally down to your leadership, charm, patience and logical and welll thought out and delivered arguments Nick. If it wasn't for you I'm sure BB would never have filled our holes. Well done Nick, and may I say thankyou from all residents of Seil etc. Citizen of the year 2009 perhaps? Election to chairpersonship of CC ?

Election to chairpersonship of CC ?
No thanks.

But perhaps this is a good time to remind people that the Community Council AGM is on the 26th of next month. Anyone interested should go and put themselves up for election. Longshanks has already promised us he will stand. Perhaps he would be good enough to publish his manifesto on the forum so people can firm up their voting intentions. I am sure is will include a few sweeteners for the leisure boating community to help swing my vote.

Are they allowed to write what ever they like in their manifesto without it being deleted? Must be freedom of speech gone mad, I say.

Of course. I'm working on it as we speak.
There will, of course, be no sweetners for any particular group but you may be pleased to know that I will be giving away free anoraks to all.

Congrats, Nick - that was a much better answer than your usual pompous one or toxic private message (of which I have quite a collection!). Keep lightening up and you'll be fine!

:oftopic :oftopic :oftopic

does the CC meeting announcement by Nick not deserve a new thread..personally i think that's more off topic than the original conversation with Monanawfullot who was actually still talking about the roads?!?

maybe i'm speaking out of turn but maybe a new thread entitled CC meeting (boring) is required

Insideman - are u Ian Frew? :oftopic

Well, you know how to start a thread Chavvy - do I have to do everything around here?

And while you are at it you could start another one to tell everyone that the current (April) Seilachan is now available on the site HERE for anyone who hasn't had their copy thruogh the door.
