Re: Is this a Nanny state blog?
So your sudden conversion to a pro-independence stance is just a load of Armitage, Shanks. You don't like Salmond, you don't like the Nats, you don't like PR, you don't like Holyrood and you think separation (an emotive word in itself) would be wrong at this time.
You are about as pro-independence as Annabel Goldie, but with even fewer policies that make sense for Scotland. Please spare us any more of this pointless pontification.

Lets All Face it
Nanny if she ever existed has thrown the Brat out with the bathwater long ago
Salmond if he ever existed has proven that the Scots do need the English
Brown whoever he is has proved that no politician can ever be trusted
And if the Royal?? Bank of Scotland was ever worth a damn it isnt now
Building societies were the old remedy still seem to hold more of a common sense approach to lending
until of course taken over by banks??
How many of The Banks have politicians on the board
(or at the TROUGH)
Sadly the English need the Scots and Vice Versa
Neither country is big enough to go it alone
No one country has the nouse or money to be truly independent
:English Flag :jack
SO LETS ALL GO DOWN TOGETHER OR PERISH IN THE UNITED ATTEMPT NOT TO

Blimey Blubber, something's rattled your cage!
1. No sudden conversion..I've always been in favour of independence and that means seperation; see all my previous posts.
2. I now believe we should delay the vote due to the current Depression.
3. I used to like and admire Salmond, no more due to his failure to deliver flagship policies and not to accept the blame for nondelivery.
4. I do like Nats (except the ones with beards who manage to put Bannockburn and 1966 into the same sentence and then start the next sentence with "The English stole our oil.."
Your other points are correct.
Shankers (seperation by choice)

Glad you two see eye to eye! From your pics, you seem both to suffer from common eye problems. Just like these 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDldZrAeZQ8

Re: Is this a Nanny state blog?
"The English stole our oil.." I don't think any one would agree with that but the London (British) government played down the value of it and the civil service changed the regional territorial waters around Scotland to read "UK" at around the same time as oil started to flow and the first devolution debate was taking place......
Then used the revenues to prop up our failing economy......which sounds very familiar...

From an English perspective :English Flag
Maybe the oil was a common resource :jack
maybe the resultant revenue went into a common purse
maybe scots parliament was funded from same
Maybe not
Still the politicians stayed at the trough
And no matter how we complain
nobody will change it in retrospect
OIL REVENUE DWINDLING
DEVOLUTION WOULNT CHANGE A THING
HAVE YOUR OIL IF YOU TAKE YOUR PRIME MINISTER WITH IT
IT WAS NOT THE ENGLISH THAT VOTED HIM IN
COME TO THINK OF IT NO ONE DID (EXCEPT THOSE ALREADY AT THE TROUGH)
BUT STRIKE A BLOW FOR US ALL---PLEASE VOTE HIM OUT WHEN YOU CAN
ISNT WHAT WAS A BALMORAL NOW CALLED A" GORDON BROON"??

Try listening to one of the bearded and bitter Nats I mentionedSeventhseil wrote:"The English stole our oil.." I don't think any one would agree with that ...
Seems like an eminently sensible use of the tax revenue from British oil. What would you suggest, not support the economy and let it collapse?Seventhseil wrote:used the revenues to prop up our failing economy.
How's your class war going Seventh? Going to back MacB's "new order" when he discloses it? Orf wiv their eads!

How utterly strange.
First NOS deletes his opening post with no explanation causing a tad of a furore then my good friend Mona points out:
Crikey!
All reference to Scotland, let alone the SNP, has been deleted from the site !!!
http://www.realhelpnow.gov.uk/
Look Mona! Its all gone!
Has NOS been hacking Crash Gordon's spin, I mean web site? Are zaNu-Labor now trying to wipe Scotland from the history of The Great Crash of 2009 (thus covering up for any Scot's involvement)?
Tellyawot...I'm spooked.
Finally, a new member (welcome by the way) suddenly starts posting on this forum under the name "reality_check" (blimey!) showing an unhealthy interest in the perfidity of Israel and the innocence of Iran.
Hey; your vicarliness, what's going on? Can we expect to see the four horsepersons next?
Worried Shanks (gone to ground by choice)

So I take look.MonaLott wrote: If you go to the UK Government’s new "real help now" website launched recently by Gordon Brown, you will find that it lists SNP Government action, such as the Council Tax freeze and flexible business support, as key efforts being taken in the UK to help the economy through the recession.

Well thanks for that mona...was that all you had to add to the discussion?
Re: Is this a Nanny state blog?
Irony, sunshine. I think you'll find I started this thread and have contributed throughout. I just thought that a newcomer shouldn't be getting bogged down so soon in correcting folks' spelling. It's a kind of perfidy. We don't usually stoop to such depths.

Yes I do...
Re: Is this a Nanny state blog?
Its not often, these days, that I visit this chatroom hence a belated explanation as to why I deleted my original post; after a brief reflection I had second thoughts because I noticed that the Independent had edited some of Lawson's most contentious words and phrases. The original included "thieving Scots", "North Britain" "Hibernia" and others. I also worried slightly that by posting the article some of the more vociferous members of this wee community might lose their cool a bit and we might get some anti English versus anti Scottish postings. So I deleted it.
